She is just tit interest for the redneck bible bashers who would love four more years of Bush. Her constant gaffs and incoherent babblings and out of her depth dawdling remind me of George W so much it is uncanny.
Does the USA really think that Sarah Palin is a compelling representative of their interests on the world stage?
The last statistic I saw was that 48% of Hillary's supporters were going to vote for Palin.
That was before she was found to have abused her position. Frankly anyone who uses their political office to settle family arguments is unfit for office, especially the position of Vice President.
I am deeply disappointed by McCain and Palin as I distrust Obama but it seems Palin is no match for Hillary and McCain isn't the maverick he claims to be.
Obama is being elected by default and Americans are going to suffer like they never have before. The universal healthcare scheme will suck money out of workers' wages to provide free healthcare for illegal immigrants and the unemployed who will clog the system up leaving those who pay for it having to rely on private healthcare anyway, and the global anti poverty programme will dwarf the war on terror.
Obama isn't black. He's as green as grass, and America is going to get President Hussein.
I see fish. They are everywhere. They don't know they are fish.
And so it should.Originally Posted by Thormaturge

Frankly I do not know the position of II's when it comes to State health care. But is it really so radical for the US to have a similar system of State health care as every other western democracy? I've thought for several years now that what is radical is that this wealthy nation does not afford this level of entitlement- that is basically your birthright in most advanced countries- to it's own citizens.Originally Posted by Thormaturge
Yeah, I don't quite see how that's a bad thing either. The War on/of (depending on your perspective) Terror's the ambulance at the bottom of the cliff or the bandage to apply after the injury.
Combating poverty, a root cause, is the saftey rail at the top of the cliff and instructions to avoid injury.
It all boils down to the 'S' word: "socialism". A word that has the power to turn even a seemingly rationale American into a quivering mess of fear. Even more bizzare considering that the US already has elements of socialism. I think it can all be traced back to the 50's, 60's and the Red Menace (check uder your beds!) scare and propaganda. But is it really so radical for the US to have a similar system of State health care as every other western democracy? ^ Ant, how would you fare if you moved home with your family? How much tax do you pay in Thailand? 5%? You would have a different view. All you guys crying about the dichotomy between the rich and the poor starving folks. Do you donate to Thai charities or care for the welfare of those poor folks in your neighbourhood?
Yes, the S word turns me off, because I have worked honestly for my investments and I still work because I enjoy it. I don't need a libbie govt to tell me where to spend for charity, especially when they do such a crap job of dispensing my wealth anyway.
Please tell me your research results from the homeland after your next visit.
Good for you- and so have I Jet, so have many other people who come from countries that do have a health care system for it's citizens. It did not preclude us from doing well at the end of the day, and you would have to have a strange mindset to accuse countries such as Aus, Canada, NZ, UK, Germany, Singapore & Sweden of being Socialist. Jeez, even Hong Kong has a State health care system for it's people.Originally Posted by Jet Gorgon
Five percent!? I bloody well wish! It's more like 35%, soon to be even higher. In relative terms actually paying more in tax here than I would be back home.

A society can be judged by how it treats the lowest of its members, Jet. All this talk of charity and who's giving what to whom is a red-herring.

I thought you lived in Thailand. 5%? Hey Terry! Proof she never lived/worked here.Originally Posted by Jet Gorgon

Bingo, but it doesn't compute because the idea is that everyone can and should stand on their own feet . . . yet when these blowhards are in trouble they have the same reaction and the need for aid. Funny thatOriginally Posted by AntRobertson

^ So what happened after you lost your biz in Loei?

^ closed it down . . . and re-built it in Chanthaburi . . . still making money . . . and paying taxes . . . nowhere near the 5% you are talking about, is that how much you paid?
If you're interested I'll happily explain how we built the bio-fuel plant as a community project to supply the rural poor with cheap diesel-Ersatz and provide work for
almost 20 people directly . . . and more indirectly . . .
I can also explain how we supplied local rubber small-holders with the newest technology to increase their wealth with minimum investment - RoI (OH that means Return of Investment, Jet) 4 days and lasts 10 months.
I could tell you lots of things that we did - how about free legal advice three times a week at a local wat by my wife for the people . . .
And we still made money and still do, even from afar
Nah, you don't want to hear that, you can't slag it off . . .
Oh, thank you for finally writing a post to me without insults.
Here are some more attendees at Palin's rallies.
Such nice, calm, rational people.
^ It is clear, and clearly pathetic, that these people belong to the economic strata that will benefit from Obamas policies. How can people be so out of touch with the world around them?
Oh, thats right- he's Black, he's Muslim, he's a Terrorist and a Pinko. Brainwashed, and brainless- the sort of environment these people inhabit strikes me as a pretty sad place.![]()
That's what I don't get either!? How can they be so completely pig-headed ignorant; it's cutting of your nose to spite your face taken to the nth degree.
Oh sorry, I see you've already answered that:

You're up late - nothing to do on a Friday night, eh . . .
Those are the facts - do you know something we don't? Please do let us know. More one-sentence nonsensical responses?Originally Posted by Jet Gorgon

You see, Jet, people like you walk through life so viciously guarding what is yours that you don't even know that they use public funds almost from the time they wake up to the time they go to sleep . . . and if they do then they feel all smug that 'they' have paid for this and that . . .
Sadly, and this applies to most of us I would guess, we can't choose to only pay taxes for the uses we want.
Please feel free to discuss this or my previous post, Jet . . . try it intelligently, not like your last attempt, though you did do well not using insults - again I applaud you for that.

^ You be a pushover, hatter. You can't be a good bizman. I ask you one Q and you blabber a whole pile of personal and biz info. That's where ego kills ya, madder. Cannae stop talking about yerself. There's a free lesson for ya if you can understand it.
Either America is going to have unversal healthcare or it isn't. The moment you start asking accident victims for their ID you cease to have universal care. If the USA introduces a system similar to that in the UK every Mexican who sneezes will be across the border for his free healthcare and an entire industry will grow up ferrying them back and forth. Not to mention the Cubans and the occasional hard-up Canadian.
It only works if all of your neighbours are affluent or if you are surrounded by water.
I am also pleased to learn that Obama wants America to eradicate world poverty.
Not so sure about where the money comes from for this if taxes are being cut too, unless he plans on removing tax breaks on things like company pensions and 401K's. Well, that's what the nice charismatic Mr. Blair did in the UK, before he raised social security payments (Social Security isn't tax, apparently).
So you wind up with the poor buggers who are working paying higher social Security and getting lower pensions to pay for the "free" healthcare everyone else is enjoying.
When I lived in the UK the free healthcare was atrocious so I had private healthcare too.
Same same Bush- I wonder who copied who.Originally Posted by Thormaturge
I do not believe II's, or visitors, should have a free health care entitlement- except perhaps casualty/outpatient- as basically exists now in the US.
Did he say that? how wonderful- but I suggest he start eliminating US poverty first.Originally Posted by Thormaturge
Really, the US foreign aid budget is quite modest as a percentage of it's GDP compared to many other countries, and last thing I knew about half of that went to Israel anyway.
That's the plan. Eliminate poverty in the US so the world can sell more to the biggest consumer market in the world. See it all fits don't it.Originally Posted by sabang

These are the people that elect the leader of the free world.... It is truely terrifying. Their gleeful pride of their own ignorance is bizarre. A population that revels in it's own stupidity; shouting confused bigotry and McCain sound bites are the level of debate.
As something of a libertarian McCain should be my natural choice but behind him is this flock of idiots. McCain has sunken to pandering to them the socialist/Commie angle is distinctly McCain-like further proof he is a paranoid reds under the bed dinosaur living in the wrong century. The new terrorist slaging is so low to begger belief; but it plays into the hands of the civil liberty groups who have warned of the dangers of The Patriot Act and makes McCain look like W Bush.3*.

They champion falsehood, support the butcher against the victim, the oppressor against the innocent child. May God mete them the punishment they deserve

US emergency care is free, innit? They have to admit and care for you whether you have healthcare or not. (Hey, I watch ER.)
I have to show my healthcare card if I go to emergency in Canada. A few Mericans sneak across to get care, but end up going back home coz they have to wait so long.
She is the new Bush !!! No one has showed such bare faced ignorance since W's first campain for the White House
