From the Russians in the same article ... "In late June, Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister Iryna Vereshchuk said that 1.2 million Ukrainians had been forcibly deported to Russia, including 240,000 children. Two thousand of the children were orphans.

It was a trainload of ammunition. The bridge is mostly going to fail from the massive heat if it is already not severed.

    Video from the bridge itself...

Large explosion reported at bridge connecting Russia to Crimea

Russia’s state news agency RIA Novosti reported that all traffic across the Crimean Bridge was suspended on Saturday morning after a fuel tanker allegedly caught fire. Oleg Kryuchkov, an advisor to the head of Russia’s government in Crimea, said in a post on Telegram that the fire was caused by an exploded fuel tanker. He stressed that the bridge’s support arches are reportedly undamaged.

Constructed after Russia’s annexation at great expense and opened to passenger vehicles in May 2018, the Crimea Bridge is one of Moscow’s biggest infrastructure investments in the occupied peninsula. It is unknown at the time of this writing if the explosion is related at all to Ukrainian military activity.

Internet users at the scene of the fire have shared footage apparently showing a tanker train ablaze:

It is more than that. That is most likely collateral damage. Look at this image closely. The road bridge has collaped...

It also makes it harder for Ukraine to roll into Crimea.

That rail line is the sole source of supply for Kherson, Zaporizhzhia, Melitopol, etc. If they can no longer get trains across that bridge, the war is effectively lost in the south of Ukraine. There is no other logistical alternative here. It is not just a logistical problem, but also a resupply problem. No more tanks, troops, artillery pieces, etc. will be able to be moved in.

BTW, the fire battalions have still not arrived to fight the fire. It is still burning and every minute it continues to burn, the more structural damage the bridge takes. There is almost no question the bridge will collapse at any moment.

^ No it isn't the sole source of supply to Crimea. It is a major blow but not as catastrophic as you suggest.

The only other way is by ship, with transport through Melitopol or Rostov-on-Don via truck, and there is no way they can push enough supplies that way to support their armies in the south.

We will soon see. I have been listening to a couple of military officers on a live stream I partake in, and they are painting a very dire picture. Either way, the supply lines are currently cut until they can ramp up operations over the sea.

I tend to think that the Ukrainians will now strike into Zaporizhia Oblast using the troops they have been staging there with the intent of cutting off Melitopol. My guess is the bridge attack was just the start of a bigger operation.

You are defiantly hard core into this Snubby!

I would love to see someone get their balls handed to them on a clay plate.

I suspect that Russia still has the ascendency, in spite of the latest news, but personally hope the Ukrainians can hand Putin's bollocks on a clay plate to him really soon but doubt it.

Meanwhile the world is suffering and this shit has to stop!

I am into a Ukrainian victory. I am not at all happy that Russia started this war. Furthermore, I look forward to the day when Ukraine has liberated its land and the war then will hopefully end. Then this thread can die.

This guy has the moment of the explosion. On the road deck with fire reaching up to the rail track above and to the left.

His second embedded video, watch the far truck on the right.

    Peringatan Konten Sensitif

I'm no explosive expert, but the explosion appears to be horizintal, rising vertically upwards.

"According to the first conclusions of the investigation, the Crimean bridge was attacked using a truck packed with explosives. Under the explosion, 4 spans of the automobile bridge collapsed and several tank wagons of the train which was travelling overhead were set on fire. The repairs will take at least 1 month and a ferry is already in place to ensure the continuity of traffic."
