An international body, including the UN, cannot just take away territory without the permission of the original “host” state.

Kremlin Hails Musk’s Attempt at Ukraine Peace Deal

The Kremlin has hailed U.S. billionaire Elon Musk’s attempt to put forward a peace plan to end Russia’s war in Ukraine, calling it a “very positive” sign on Tuesday.


The world’s wealthiest man outlined his proposal for a peace deal to his 107 million Twitter followers on Monday. Its terms sparked fierce backlash from Ukraine and the West, who said the prospective deal largely favored Moscow.


“We consider it very positive that a man like Musk is looking for a peaceful way out of the situation around Ukraine,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters, according to Interfax.


The Tesla and SpaceX founder proposed a redo of last week’s referendums in four Moscow-occupied Ukrainian regions that were widely panned as shams, as well as recognizing the annexed Crimean peninsula as part of Russia.

"Achieving peace without meeting Russia's conditions is absolutely impossible. Many ideas there deserve attention," Peskov said of Musk’s peace plan.


While the Kremlin dismissed Musk’s idea to hold the referendums a second time under UN observation, Peskov praised him for attempting to broker peace, unlike many professional diplomats.


“Today the president will sign decrees, and this will become the territory of the Russian Federation. But I repeat once again, the fact itself is very positive, when people such as this try to think logically about what could be done in order to establish peace," Peskov added.


Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky responded to Musk’s tweet by polling his followers: "Which @elonmusk do you like more?" with the options "One who supports Ukraine" and "One who supports Russia."


The wartime president then pledged that Kyiv would never negotiate with Russia as long as President Vladimir Putin remained in power, a vow that the Kremlin criticized as a roadblock to peace.


“All these proposals, even from those who have the wisdom to think about them, break down after Zelensky’s decision that it is impossible to continue any negotiations with President Putin," Peskov said.


Musk, who has in the past made overtures to Putin and sparred on social media with Russia's space chief, tweeted in March that he was challenging the Russian president to "single combat," with Ukraine as the prize.

It's getting easier for them. That's about 60 km's in 3 days near Kherson, and in the East they are already on the outskirts of Kremenna faster than I thought. Russia can barely set up a defensive line. Gotta push them as far back as possible before the snow flies, then just sit back, hit their supply lines with the himars, and freeze them out.

Lyman was by far the biggest strategic capture the Ukies have made in this war, and I can certainly understand them pressing their advantage before those reinforcements start arriving in numbers- the gorilla in the room. Musk recalled that his SpaceX corporation had already spent about $80 million to provide the Armed Forces with Starlink wireless Internet. At the same time, the businessman stressed that he spent $0 on Russia.

Thus, according to Musk, accusations against him of a “pro-Russian” position are completely absurd.

In turn, the billionaire explained the position on the Crimea. He believes that an attempt by Ukraine to return the peninsula by military means can lead to irreparable consequences, ranging from huge losses in the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to a nuclear conflict.

Nothing has been retaken, and I stand by my comment that the Russian army is on the brink of collapse in Kherson. In regard to the partisans, good on them, their activities are only going to intensify.

The maps I posted on this page are accurate and the most up to date.

Lyman was by far the biggest strategic capture the Ukies have made in this war, and I can certainly understand them pressing their advantage before those reinforcements start arriving in numbers-

There were reports of arriving reinforcements mingling with Russian troops fleeing Lyman. Talk about a day late and a dollar short.
In principle a few hundred thousand reinforcements should make Russian resistance much stronger. When you add in the facts that the reinforcements are uneager conscripts, poorly trained, lightly armed, insufficiently clothed for the coming winter, running out of food and ammunition as their supply lines are cut, it is difficult to see how much difference they will make. Except perhaps to further strain limited rations. How do you think the real fighters will feel about sharing their food?
