Yampil has already fallen. The road that is being pinched is surrounded on both sides and currently being fired on by Ukrainians, it is the only way out. The situation is dynamic and ongoing as we speak, word is that the Russians are so desperate that they are trying to fight out of the encirclement.

This is going to be a bloodbath.

Which is a tragedy. Surrender would be the right choice here, except that they fear being shot once they get back to Russia. Putin is fighting a war of attrition, he places no value on the lives of his troops.

He is hollowing out his country as well. Russia already has a demographic problem, and Putin is exacerbating it. He is mobilizing most of the troops who will be poured into Ukraine basically untrained to be massacred from border states and the far east. Moscow and Saint Petersburg have hardly been touched. This call that was intercepted in the last day and just posted to Twitter is proof of it...

Belarus will not enter the fight. The army already told Lukashenko, they will not fight in Ukraine.

Lukashenko has not police apparatus like Putin. This is the first sign of the crumpling Russian Empire.

I hope you are right. I'm not so sure. Even if Belarus only masses troops along the Ukraine border it adds stress to the Ukrainian resources.

A poll by german state TV ZDF Polit Barometer

Should we continue supporting Ukraine despite rising energy prices for us? The Yes vote is rising! We don't reach the 98% of the russian poll in the occupied areas of Ukraine, but decent results.

The formal annexation is going on now. A big lurch into a much more unsafe world.

The west not sitting back as per Crimea.

We are moving into uncharted territory.

It should all become clearer once Snubby gets back from the pub.

Very much so. If Putin is going to regard any attack on the four "annexed" regions as an attack on mother Russia then things are going to escalate quickly. The nuclear option looks more and more like a possibility.

Fuck Putin. Ukraine is going to carry on doing what it's doing.

And again: Russia's military leadership will not let Putin anywhere near the nuclear button. They do not have a death wish.

I left this thread this afternoon with:

Not an official announcement but a discussion between an American ex-military officer, Scott Ritter and:

"Andrey Gurulyov, a Russian politician and statesman, a member of the State Duma commission on federal budget expenditures aimed at ensuring national defense, security and law enforcement, and a member of the State Duma Defense Committee."

Mr Ritter asks questions and the Russian statesman answers. The Russian doesn't hold back his replies.

Click on the "Watch on YouTube" bottom line.

The Russian is introduced at the 9:00 mark.

I wouldn't bet money on the 'arry.

I believe that Russia's move on the annexations raises the question of Ukraine's membership in NATO. Before it was out of the question. Now it deservees renewed discussion. This guy has to be stopped at some point. This may be the point. If it starts a general conflagration, so be it.

Isn't NATO membership an invitation from all members? Do you think the existing members will achieve 100% agreement?

    Too big an ask imo.

And yes, Lyman is about to fall.
Lyman is collapsing as I type this
Care to post links any reports of Russian success from bsnub?

    There isn't any.

    Care for some russkiganda?

Reserves are introduced under Krasny Liman, the operation to unblock the city has begun

he situation near Krasny Liman relatively stabilized, the enemy did not manage to take the city in a full ring, the units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine were stopped in the Ivanovka area. Additional forces of the Russian Armed Forces have been deployed to this area.

The command of the Russian grouping has brought in reserves, an operation is underway to release the Krasny Liman, 4 combat tactical groups of the 58th combined arms army, reinforced with heavy equipment, are participating in it. The Russian
aviation, bombers are lifted into the air, FAB-500 and FAB-3000 bombs are being struck, such information is voiced by a number of Russian TG channels.

Despite all attempts, the enemy did not manage to complete the task set by Zelensky to take Krasny Liman exactly on September 30 in order to kill
news on the entry of four new regions into Russia. In Kyiv, they wanted to show their overseas sponsors that they are capable of not only losing their territories, but also liberating them. The plan failed, now personnel units from two districts and fighters of the NM LPR are fighting in the Krasny Liman area.

The task is to inflict fire damage on the attacking enemy formations, clear the adjacent communications from the mobile groups of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which cut the roads, setting up ambushes and directing artillery and MLRS to strongholds

    military sources say.

It is also reported that in the vicinity of Liman and Yampol, several large motorized rifle units of the Russian troops are moving forward at once with the task of both unblocking the city itself and supply routes. Earlier, several sources stated that under the pressure of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, ours had to leave Drobyshevo and Yampol. For a complete encirclement, the enemy had to cut the road to Torskoye, but he did not succeed.

    Just a moment...

Didn't think so. Fwiw, I don't have a clue what the real deal is because I don't frenetically follow daily war porn briefings. When snubs finishes his bottle, I'm sure his crystal ball will materialise, and enlighten us all.

Go take a peak in the other thread. The fact of the matter is you do not want to hear the truth anyway. A quarter after three AM in Ukraine right now, but in the coming hours there will be more humiliation coming. Bank on it.
