We can debate that one until the cows come home mate, but be it thru 'show of force' or good old fashioned diplomacy and compromise (or a bit of both), I do not think Ukraine would have ended up the sacrificial lamb it is now. I reckon they would also have considered allied European and World interests in their deliberations, and actions. I think the Reaganite's had a balanced degree of old fashioned values and old equally old fashioned common sense the current mandarins utterly lack. Not to mention, credibility. Which often accompanies, y'know, values and common sense.

Agree. Never would have got this far. Reaction to Russian invasion of Crimea 2014 would have been met with a far stronger US response.

The Vladite's reckon the Russian reaction to the Maidan revolution should have been a far stronger show of force too. A bit of historical revisionism I suppose. I still think that both Crimea and Putin basically did the logical thing (from their Pov), post Maidan- but Donbass was left hanging in the wind. Tough when you got no Parliament, or Naval HQ.

    Pirates of The Carpathians

Well, never accuse sab of not providing you with totally trivial, apropos of nothing news feeds-

Sean Penn 'thinking about taking up arms against Russia' to defend Ukraine

Over the past several months the filmmaker spent time in Ukraine to film a documentary featuring
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and military forces. Although he's since returned home to California, Penn revealed in a new interview that he has intentions to go back and has thought about "taking up arms" against Russia.

But Sean, why don't you just take up arms against Oliver Stone instead?
We're really not interested in your lack of martial prowess.

You both seem to be missing the point! Diplomacy should always lead to negotiation, BEFORE war starts. Putin must not be allowed to absolve himself for any and all misconduct, committed by those he sent to war in the first place.

The fact that he commands a large country, with a serious nuclear threat is not an excuse for atrocities committed in his name. The buck stops with Putin for the whole shameful and unnecessary charade.

They say it takes two to tango- but in this case it is a 'troika of tango'. I absolve none of these parties from responsibility. It is all very patriotic to point the finger of blame at one select party, and indeed as a good compliant citizen you are supposed to do so in times of war. I however am harder to satisfy.

Still trying to pass blame for this war on America. Absolute idiocy. This war was 100% started by Putin, and there is nothing that can justify it otherwise. Your repetitive propaganda nonsense is grown stale and annoying to say the least.

^^ No pickle I do not. I am however trying to redress the one sided propaganda blitz we are being subjected to, in this time of (proxy) war. It is unprecedented, imho.

One sided propaganda? Putin literally made it a law in Russia to have only one sided propaganda. And you lap it up.

Who told you that- the Ghost of Kiev, or the Snake Island martyrs? Or was it your hero, Zelensky?

I'm so touched with your new found Humanism 'arry. Shall we we talk about all of those dead babies and raped women in Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria and Libya too? Given your mental age, I assume you were not yet born during Vietnam.

The ghost of Kyiv I didn't believe, and the snake island recording of go fuck yourself was humorous, but their fate to me was unknown. I question Ukraines official numbers of Russian casualties, as well.

But you.........you swallow putins crap wholeheartedly.

Yada yada gents- it ya reckon it was worth it, well now ya got it. Explain that to the Ukrainian people, in their refugee camps. Or even people in Europe struggling to pay their energy and food bills, and wondering why the fuck? Of course it doesn't matter about black people in Africa facing starvation though, does it?

This propaganda shit you refer to is written by genuine non-TEFLers 'arry, very often American too. They have real degrees from known alma maters- often multiple, and often State level experience, or maybe a Pulitzer prize or two. Show some respect to your betters boy.

What assets, where from, how long would they take to get there, how long to train and integrate the other NATO countries into their weapons/methods ....? Will the Pentagon agree?

They won't be fighting a foe with bicycles, hand me down AK's ....

I suspect they will never go into Ukraine.

If they do, they have already been warned that the origin of the forces, the suppliers of weapons, the headquarters and political assemblies will be hit.
