The people tended towards what they were being promised as part of the brexit deal. Clearly those promises are not going to happen. In fact several promises were not in line with other promises...eg we will stay in the Customs Union, there will be an easily made deal with the EU, the NHS will receive the major part of the EU fees etc. etc. One could even argue that the 48% who voted to remain, were in fact the majority in knowing what they wanted...although that might be a little difficult for Brexiteers to comprehend.
The current default option may be no-deal brexit but only until the May deal falls flat on its arse. Once that happens, and she really should have let it happen on Dec 11, a no-deal brexit will be voted off the menu. There is no way a minority of hardliners are going to get that through. It wouldn't matter who was PM, that option isn't going to happen.
There maybe an extension but only for a second referendum. The EU won't start negotiating a Canada ++ or a Norway style deal, neither of which would be good for the UK anyway.
Let's face it Brexit had its say, popped its ugly head up and got deservedly thwacked. Now it's up to strong leadership to explain why that has happened and why the UK must fully commit to the EU, to save its sorry arse rather than run away.
The EU is worth saving and is needed by all of Europe. It is the solution. Now make it happen.
No logic at all in merging trade with political expressions of power.
The word you so carefully avoided, is tyranny. I’m pleased that you have finally admitted what you really want from this debacle.
Your proposed future has nothing to do with the E.U. and more to do with fascism.
Hou are not a funny little man at all. You are a dangerous and spiteful troll.
Global hegemony is not the panacea that remain supporters seem to think. There is a common trend against globalization, and it has nothing to do with nationalism.
Brexit supporters are far sighted enough to realse that greater political integration will just lead to bigger tribes, with bigger sticks.
There is a need and a desire for institutions that connect essential trade, security and defence, but the E.U. is not it. They now want to remove the one thing that sovereign nations uphold above all others. That is choice, and the right to self determination.
True nations do not aspire to the European, American, Russian or Chinese models of a perfect society. They need the flexibility to respond to events and make decisions based on logic, not the aspirational idealism so vaunted by the federal states in different political guises.
All the major federations that exist today have different models of hegemony, and the UK is content to be outside those models, and exercise the choices that will allow UK Plc to grow and prosper.
None of the various models of federal giants is going to win the trade wars now consuming the planet, because there is no common ground between them.
The UK retains the strength, the power and the determination to be on the outside pissing in, and that is what upsets the others. None of them want a successful, independent authority outside the mainstream federal Dream.
The future is not about hegemony or unity. It’s about realism and cooperation.
You sound like a neo natzi, as well as a racist. We still kicked your arse in two wars! History has a habit of repeating itself. You also need some spelling corrections! But Adolf, I don't take you too seriously. George.
Do you mean the Belgian or one of the other natzis that should learn to spell?
Not worth saving at all in its current form, and what you call the 'solution' is decaying before your eyes but you cannot or refuse to see it. One temporary window of comfort for EU gods is that Brexit came along to distract from their own critical social, economic and political problems.
Fex, while many cheer that UK will take a hit, not certain but does look likely, what do you suppose will happen and whom will you blame when Deutsche Bank can no longer be bailed out with EU money illegally flowing through other member states allowing them to settle debts created by loans to buy German goods? Iow, how long can you pay customers to buy your stuff?
And there's no escape when Greece, Italy and others arrive at the OIB for their rightful share of the wealth.
Global hegemony? EU gods?
Do you two share a soap box in Hyde Park?
Stop with this insanity and get with the program. Brexit is dying a slow death but it is dying. One hopes a few of the loons walk out of politics when it does...and Farage needs burning at the stake in celebration.
When you say "we" is that the "royal we" as in you? Are you actually a Belgian, or a migrant from outside of the EU who has miraculously been transformed into an EU zealot? A bit like an over zealous born again Christian or a muslim convert just trying to fit in to something, when you really feel like an outsider and are begging for acceptance within your new adopted group. A type of over compensating for an inferiority complex if you like.
I ask because I am wondering if this is the reason for your anti british sentiment as you seem to be so over the top in many of your responses. Of course I maybe be wrong and you may be an indigenous (for want of a better term) European who is just naturally nasty.
Looks like you’re asking ‘Are you a c u n t’?
Surely you know the answer by now.
And a very peculiar one too.
Algerian, Belgian, French .... who cares. He’s just a bilious shit stirring troll. Safely ignored. Same same for Seeking ass, the bitter and twisted old crud, and Fubar, the ever angry, spittle flecked moron who arrived late to the party. Probably a recently jailed nic who is failing to reinvent himself, or one of those professional labor luvvies, who has never held any kind of paid employment outside the labor party.
Troy was quite reasonable and coherent until faced with the probable reality of a no deal Brexit. Now he’s the one going over the cliff with ever more expansive postulations on his beloved Eutopia.
Now, now... remember the Queen's speech
you are arguing with British fascists, and who is more against a country domination by another entity other than their very own, but true fascists of course
British tirany is what Chass is arguing for, not Franco-German or any foreigner tirany
it's nationalism, proud nationalism, like the Serbs used to have in the 90s after the fall of Communism and the USSR disintegration
they see the EU as a threat to their core "British" cultural values, old Anglo-Saxon values like the KKK and conservatives love to cherish
let's face it, Brexit is about intoierance of a culture, a country against anything that is not from their own
that's all there is to it,
anyway we all agree you guys don't belong to EU and should fook off ASAP![]()
and here we go, the option to stay, can't let that happen
'Brexit 50-50' if May's deal rejected, says Liam Fox
https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-politics-46713498
Senior Brexiteer minister Liam Fox says there is a 50-50 chance the UK will not leave the EU on 29 March if MPs reject Theresa May's Brexit deal next month.
The international trade secretary told the Sunday Times it would only be "100% certain" if MPs back the deal.
He said if the deal is rejected, that "would shatter the bond of trust between the electorate and Parliament".
MPs are due to vote on the withdrawal agreement in January, with the UK scheduled to leave the EU on 29 March.
The agreement negotiated by Mrs May with the EU - which sets the terms of the UK's exit and a declaration on future relations - will only come into force with a majority backing in Parliament.
The Commons vote was due to be held on 11 December but the PM postponed it once it became clear it would be defeated by a large margin.
Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn this week urged Mrs May to cut short MPs' Christmas break - they are due back in the Commons on 7 January - to allow for an earlier vote.
95% of Brexiteers have seen Zulu more than 3 times.
