At least they don't get fined $1,500.00 OZ for lack of a seat belt.

There's still some vestiges of 'Tham Jai Khun' left in the American landscape.

They don't in Australia either . . . but keep thinking that a three year old shooting and killing its mother is the same as getting a fine for not wearing a seatbelt.

What's the penalty [if enforced] for driving while distracted by one's gadgetry?

Much more criminal towards the general populous.

Yet Another Reason You Need a Gun

Maniacs are advised to limit their homicidal activities to gun-free zones, lest they end up like Twain Thomas:

When James Cvengros heard screaming down the hall from his apartment, he got his video camera rolling and pointed it at the door.

Little did he know, he would capture all of the horrifying drama that was about to unfold. In the following minutes, Twain Thomas would chop through the door using a machete, sustain three gunshots to the chest from Cvengros’ pistol, and lie moaning on the floor while Cvengros pleaded for an explanation.

That scene unfolded on Feb. 22 last year in Pocatello, Idaho, according to the Idaho State Journal.

Looks like Twain Thomas is one of the only people in Idaho who didn't know where to get a gun.

Apparently the only reason they are issued batons is so they have something to drop.

Amazing! Nine cops on the scene. One homeless guy. Chances are an alcoholic, or on drugs, or with severe mental problems. NINE cops can't subdue this guy without gunning him down? All with batons (never used that I saw), all with industrial strength pepper spray (never used that I saw), tasers (which they claim they hit him with once, to no avail), all cops 90 kilos or so and wearing body armor - what happened to swarming him and about 300 kilos of cop landing on him?

The tapes - all three of them - are inconclusive. None actually show the suspect's hand on a gun.

Sorry coppers - there were a ton of other options for NINE cops to subdue ONE homeless dude.

My bet: The cops will skate - it's LAPD.

I wish they had done the right thing since they were in murder mode and shot that "Motherfucker, Motherfucker" motherfucker.

Couple of thousand homeless head cases living on LA's skid row sidewalks - Welcome to the streets paved with gold....

Probably better off in a different thread to this... but often thought of upgrading the flintlock to something a bit more modern. I have been offered a glock-19 on several occasions but a Browning is my preference...or a Walther PPQ....what do our men from the US think?

Glocks are an inherently unsafe weapon.

Georgia Police Shoot, Kill Unarmed Naked Black Veteran

Just after 1 o'clock in the afternoon on Monday, a woman phoned the Dekalb Police Department in Georgia, telling them there was a naked man lying on the ground outside.

According to a police report on the incident, the African-American man appeared "demented". She told police that the man, later identified as Anthony Hill, had been crawling around on the ground outside the apartment complex. He tried to come inside the maintenance office where she was, but she had already locked the door. A couple of maintenance workers stepped in and escorted Mr Hill back to his apartment in the same building.

But he left his apartment, jumping off the second floor balcony, still naked. Mobile phone video footage obtained by a local TV station shows Hill, young and fit but seemingly disoriented, pacing around slowly, and lying on the ground.

These were the last moments of Mr Hill's life. Soon after police arrived on the scene, an officer shot him dead.

In the days after his death, a picture of Mr Hill, a 27-year-old Air Force veteran who reportedly suffered from mental health problems, has emerged. People in his community and others around the US and on social media, have expressed shock and anger at the shooting, and questioned why lethal force has again been used by a police officer against an unarmed black person.

Dekalb County Chief of Police Cedric Alexander said later in a press conference that Mr Hill had "charged" at the officer before he was killed.

"They observed a nude male out in the parking lot, when the male saw the officer he charged, running at the officer, the officer called him to stop while stepping backwards, drew his weapon and fired two shots," he said.

Dr Alexander said no weapon was found at the scene and the police officer, Robert Olsen, who is white and a seven-year veteran of the force, had a Taser on him at the time.

A witness, Pedro Castillo, told the New York Times he saw Mr Hill on his hands and knees when the police arrived, and that he stood up and moved towards them with his hands out. Mr Castillo told the newspaper the officer appeared "frightened" and yelled for Mr Hill to stop before the shots were fired.

Don't have stats but I wold bet they are responsible for most accidental discharges.

    Two cops
    Tasers

    One unarmed man

Logical conclusion is to shoot to kill . . . he is black after all. He deserved to die . . . obviously.
I wouldn't be surprised to read that a gun was found on him posthumously, clearing the cops of any wrongdoing.
