Just a little bit of common sense or perhaps a bit of personal responsibility boonmee bangs on about and this would never have happened.

clearly a family that should never ever have been allowed near a gun now or then.
Ah, but it's their RIGHT you see. I bet these parents get a preformatted letter of condolence from the NRA in with their subscription reminder.

That US is a place with truly bizarre stuff going on. Marijuana is outlawed, but firearms are marketed to little kids.

Traffic stop leads to man pulling out AK47 on police. The police survive but the man dies. He was suicidal. Also had directions for making bombs. He's a white guy so Fox News won't look for connections to Muslims. Anyways, another assault-weapon related shooting. There has got to be a website with the day's shootings in America some where out there as there are so so many. I want to add a link to another story after the clip about the suicide rate among middle-aged folks rising. No need for discussion on that here but it is a driving force in America these days as people are going through hard times. In my opinion, lack of or loss of hope is one thing that is behind a lot of America's violence.

Soon after it was confirmed that the Presidential office now has the unilateral power to kill a US citizen on US soil by drone strike, if it says this person was posing an imminent threat, the Senate has discarded a timely piece of legislation approved by 90% of the US population- this after it had been watered down to a farce anyway. No recriminations- so the Houses of Congress have carte blanche to ignore the wishes of the people. Simultaneously, the dept of homeland security has progressively armed itself as a counter insurgency force, complete with armored vehicles, detention camps, and enough bullets to fight the Iraq war for fourteen years. Boy, them hijabs must be some tough customers.

I'm a little concerned by these trends in the US, and in particular by the apparent nonchalence of the media sector. No one is connecting the dots, yet the government sector, and in particular the Presidential office, has over the last decade staged a concerted power grab at the expense of the people. What started during the Bush administration has if anything accelerated under Obama. The silence is deafening.

No one is connecting the dots
    What? WW3 is coming?
A coup d'tat and installed dictator?
The end of the US as a capitalist country?
The greatest depression and civil war?
A shift of focus by the military industrial complex to get the gov't to waste money in America?
Aliens warships sighted in deep space, conflict imminent?
What happened in the book 'Stark'?

    What?

Those freedom-loving gun nuts keep multiplying.

NRA Surges to Record 5 Million Members

At the National Rifle Association's convention in Houston, TX, NRA Executive Vice President Wayne LaPierre announced that the NRA has now grown to an unprecedented 5 million active members. He concluded his speech with the theme of all the NRA officers, vowing, “From liberty’s defense, we will never back down. We will never surrender. We will always stand. We will always fight.”

It is doubtful the NRA has grown by a half million people since January 30th when LaPierre testified before congress. When he testified, he said NRA membership had grown 500,000 to 4.5 million members in the previous six months. (He was doubted then.) Now he says he has another half million people since to make 5 million. Fishy.

At least in the US you have the loony right to keep the loony left in check, unlike Europe/UK where they've descended into a world that is disconnected from any other place in the world. They've built their own reality, unfortunately absolutely nobody else in the world has bought into it.

Did anyone try to walk into the NRA Convention fully armed, as they like to do at other events because "...we have the right...".
My bet is the NRA didn't allow it for security reasons.

Well, well. It appears that gun violence in America is not as bad as y'all have been led to believe. The left-wing Statist Media has does its level best to advance their agenda there is another slaughter just ready to happen any minute now!
Gun crime has plunged in the United States since its peak in the middle of the 1990s, including gun killings, assaults, robberies and other crimes, two new studies of government data show.
Yet few Americans are aware of the dramatic drop, and more than half believe gun crime has risen, according to a newly released survey by the Pew Research Center.

A prime reason gun crime has fallen is that over the same period it has become much easier for law-abiding citizens to carry firearms, as this animated map from Radical Gun Nuttery shows.

Texas 5-year-old shoots 7-year-old brother during boys’ bath time

Texas 5-year-old shoots 7-year-old brother during boys’ bath time | The Raw Story

    May 8, 2013 Houston, Texas

A 7-year-old boy in Texas is expected to recover after being shot by his 5-year-old brother while the two were taking a bath together on Tuesday.
Officials with the Houston Police Department said that both boys were in the bathtub when the mother stepped away for a brief time. Investigators believed that the younger boy got out of the bathtub and found a rusty bolt-action .22 caliber rifle and shot his older brother.
Sgt. Ryan Gardiner described the injuries as “non-life threatening.”
“It was one bullet hole that went through his lower back,” Gardiner said.
Police were talking with the parents, but no charges had been filed as of Wednesday morning.
