Exactly what I was thinking Jim. From being a kept woman here, to working hard to support you and the kids, is going to put a big strain on your relationship. Just my opinion on having witnessed similar. Good luck Jim, tough times ahead.
Not so strangely I suppose that's just what I was thinking too.
I have my doubts she will embrace working, she did work part time when we lived in Australia, but that was 3 hours a day after college and a 10 minute walk from the house.

Not that worried, rubber prices are on the up and we can just come back if things are not going well, good to let her get a taste of the real world.

So sorted out a new Thai passport for the youngest yesterday in Ubon, now BKK on Monday, probably, for the RRV and new OZ passport for the daughter, touch wood, no problems.

Then make arrangements for this years fertilizer, on credit, put the bill in the father in laws name, that way he can't steal that money from the rubber sales.

If he doesn't steal the rest of the money and puts it in our Thai bank, we can drawn it out in Australia, 4 or 500 dollars a week, after the rains.

If the rubber prices continue up, big maybe, I will be heading back to get the factory up and running again.

So all in all, not that much of a risk, can stay, if things go fine, if not, will worry about that on the day.

    Dilemma for our cutters:
Neighborhood family and extended family share cutting. Want us to buy a scale to separate individual amounts of rubber cut by each group. Ain’t gonna happen. Not our problem! Major buyer uses an electronic weigh scale for truck in and out…555

    A matter of lowered expectations?
Four day’s rubber yields 14k baht gross from trees that are only 40% back in leaf...happy, happy.

Every extra Baht a kilo soon adds up, 5 Baht extra in my pocket, per kilo means the difference form getting by, to party on.

With the weak Australian dollar, my Baht will go further when we get back next month, so I may just be able to have enough, not to worry about money.

Got back from BKK yesterday, now just waiting for the new OZ passport and the wife's return residents visa to be issued.
So all's good and if the price goes up, even better, pity it's the end of summer there, but could take the kids up to see snow for the first time.

Not got the money yet, told it was to be deposited on the 15th, 18th today, workers get what I give them, on paper we work the land.

Rubber price is up, but no rubber now and the money is for our trip to OZ, will go the day it's paid and the wife's return visa is granted.

Hard life, German visiting the village, beer for breakfast, pissed by 2 pm, time for bed again and diner tonight in a nearby town.

Don't think we will last long in Australia, no living in the moment there.

Don't follow, what's stupid about going on a working holiday, in Australia, never said we were moving there.

School holidays starting here, would normally head off to a beach resort here, but free accommodation in OZ, just some plane tickets to get there.

No one take holidays, if things are going OK, will stay a few months, if not plane back.

Tappers will continue on tapping, best workers are taking control of all the rubber sales and money will go into our bank.
May be not as much as when I'm watching, but not like I can't jump on a cheap plane and be back in 24 hours, firing them.

No big life changing deal, just want to catch up with family and get out of the jungle for awhile.

Ignore the pathetic, jealous wannabe’s mate: Enjoy your break in Geelong and consume a few dozen slabs of VB. Centrelink will no doubt help you to survive.
Hopefully we will see you back when the rubber price revives. Have a good one with family and friends!
Me; sadly I have to fly to Canada later this week for my mum’s funeral. Geesh I HATE FLYING…48 hours + with stopover times to get to Vancouver Island!!!

On a positive note: If my mum has left me a few bob I will be able to introduce my solid gold wife to the delights of the ‘lucky country’ She has experienced snow in Canada but has yet to see the Twelve Apostles or experience an Ozzie lamb BBQ or cuddle a Koala..Lol.
    Best Regards

Jims already give us the doom and gloom failure spiel , so if thats the case WTF is he spending his hard earned money going to Ozz for? which is the part we cannot understand , Jealously in no way comes into it apart from your deluded mind cos WTF should we be jealous of a guy who openly admits his trip to Ozz's short comings , FFS get a grip ,you really do take the biscuit

^^ I'm sure she showed her appreciation for you introducing and more importantly taking a photo of her actually touching snow.

Take her to Saskatchewan for a winter, see if she like snow then.

At least the Canadian cars/trucks have heated air directed at the screen, whereas in Thailand try and find a pick-up with such a "feature" to get rid of the condensation!

During the big freeze a couple of months ago. Drove a brand new Chevy pick up in the rain. Car thermometer said 13 Celsius, no way to get 'demist' air onto windscreen even though the slots were there.
Had to use a rag to keep windscreen clear.
Decent car apart from that, with an amazing Diesel engine, worth checking out if your in the market for a pick up.
