5555 gotta love these societies:
I am a lapsed Freemason, plus a few hi tech societies IEEE etc...never got any support just demands for dues.
Sold 300 kilos this morning and will sell 7 or 800 from another plantation this afternoon, 6 taps, 30 Baht a kilo.
Question is buy fertilizer or weekend in Ubon, think the kids will opt for central plaza and pizza and I'm kinda longing for a beer in the Wrongway.
33,000 baht for 800 + 300 x 30 = 33,000...I think you'd better keep the luxuries on hold...fertilizer is your generator of cash flow.![]()
. . . and how much do you pay the tappers for the latex? Other plantation owners?
Just purchased 40 bags of 29-5-18 fertilizer for 36,800 baht, less than normal, but your trees have to eat, if they are working. "Work hard, not eat, people get sick, same same trees". The missus is rarely wrong. If you are tapping, then ya gotta fertilize. If you are having a year off, then you can leave it out if you cannot afford it.
We are still on a 60/40 split.
Normally I would just get 80 bags on credit and pay it off over the next few months, but with the uncertain prices not keen to get into debt.
5 bags this week, sell another plantations rubber Friday, barring rains and another 5 bags, step by step and don't get into debt.
Have to say, feeling a bit more confident on the price front, world rubber use for 2014 was published a few days ago.
1 and 1/2 million tons more used then in 2013 and expected to grow by 6% this year.
I know there is a market price indicator, is there a Futures market anywhere which quotes for Rubber or latex?
This may help.

If the trees have never been tapped no need for fertilizer then? Still in their infancy 1-5 years old?Originally Posted by thaiguzzi
Yes, you need to fertilise. Fertliser isn't just for tapping purposes, it is to provide nutrients. Just make sure your little trees are trimmed well, fertiliser is placed at an x-axis three or four times a year and you'll be fine . . . depending on the soil, among other things, of course
Worth a read....anyone seen the NPK tablets here...slow release is more beneficial and efficient per link ..

Just dumping fertiliser without knowing what your soil lacks/needs isn't very productive and timing is important as well . . . like the logical step of not fertilising before or during the rainy season.
Thanks
You're welcome.
I believe some universities or agricultural colleges may do it as well
Thai agriculture department does most for free around here or close to it. All the pigs were dieing recently and the Agriculture department offered to inoculate all the farmers pigs for 50 baht per household.
Some took the offer and many did not and lost their pigs.
The Thai Agriculture Department is quite active and willing to participate when called upon it seems around here. One fellow raises goats and he gets visits from the Ag dept. all the time to help him grow healthy goats. Nice young man, from the south. How he ended up in the North is interesting.
34.52 baht per kg for cup @ auction yesterday. Higher than any price received last season by a few satang.
