A bear cub got its head stuck in an oversized cookie jar. The cub was rummaging through trash when it got stuck. After the animal was tranquilized by a DEP biologist, it was brought down and local firefighters gingerly cut the jar off its head



In St. Petersburg Zoo a European lynx named Linda now lives with a domestic cat called Dusja after the little homeless kitten wandered into the lynx's cage after spotting her food. After seeing their friendship flourish the zoo adopted the kitten and the pair are currently living happily ever after

HELSINKI — A Finnish couple has narrowly won the 19th Wife Carrying World Championships — a quirky competition in which men race to be the fastest while carrying a female teammate.
Ville Parviainen and Janette Oksman cleared the grueling 253.5 meter (278-yard) obstacle course in 63.75 seconds on Saturday, less than a second ahead of Britain's Rich Blake Smith and Anna Marguerite Smith.





Thirty-six couples from a dozen countries including Australia, Japan, and the United States took part in the race, which was held in the central Finnish municipality of Sonkajarvi, north of the capital, Helsinki.

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter-Diagon Alley opens to the public July 8 at Universal Orlando Resort in Orlando, Fla. Diagon Alley expands the park’s original Harry Potter attraction, which was modeled after Hogsmeade Village and opened in 2010.

A man purported to be the reclusive leader of the militant Islamic State Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi has made what would be his first public appearance at a mosque in the centre of Iraq's second city, Mosul, according to a video recording posted on the Internet on July 5, 2014, in this still image taken from video. There had previously been reports on social media that Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi would make his first public appearance since his Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) changed its name to the Islamic State and declared him caliph. The Iraqi government denied that the video, which carried Friday's date, was credible. It was also not possible to immediately confirm the authenticity of the recording or the date when it was made
