As to the MIL -- get the relationship sorted out NOW. It won't get any better; if anything, it can deteriorate. Sounds as if the most you can hope for is a chilly detente. Live far away from the in-laws. Hell, I've not lived closer than 360 miles to my own parents since I was 17 years old -- close enough to get there in an emergency but not close enough for daily contact or drop-ins.

#1 The no divorce only applies to her, she can't divorce you. You can divorce here, but you have to do it outside of the Philippines, in your home country for example.
