So, the Daikin engineers came once and they brought spares but it turns out we were conned by the disreputable shop that has since gone out of business so we have mismatched indoor and outdoor boxes, so they had the wrong spares. They are back this morning with the right part and the root cause was a gecko that died across the circuit board, shorting it out. About 2.5K just for the board.
To be fair, the Daikin machines have been good and the service engineers are very professional. Especially coming out today, the start of a 5 day holiday.

^ Two TVs, neither of which work properly.

One hasn't been turned on for maybe five years.

On a Sunday, I am in the habit of hard boiling a few eggs for quick and easy breakfasts for the week ahead.

Sometimes they peel OK, many times not. The shell comes away in small pieces, along with chunks of white, sometimes down to the yolk.

    It really pisses me off.

What is the secret to peeling hard boiled eggs?

Your eggs are probably too fresh. Wait a week before boiling and see what difference that makes. Also, make sure the eggs are really cool or cold before peeling. Ice bath?

Older eggs (1–2 weeks) peel far easier than fresh ones. Haven’t tried it but heard that adding a teaspoon of baking soda to the boiling water raises the pH and loosens the shell. Also try an ice bath right after cooking which helps separate the shell from the white.

It's hot here, but I don't want to get into any pervo stuff.

My eggs are very fresh... in fact I deliberately choose the freshest eggs to boil (laid in the past day or so).

Also, I peel the eggs while still warm, sometimes a bit hot to the touch.

I like to get on with things.

I will follow this advice and report back next Sunday!

yes to the age. if you keep the boiled eggs in the fridge they are more difficult to peel, give them a few taps to crack the shell and then chuck it in a cup of water for 10 minutes

don't peel eggs and leave them for days, if you want to boil eggs to use later always leave them in their shell

Gosh, did someone piss in your porridge this morning?

Just. A note to topper, in this thread or perhaps this sub forum I have no post edit button or rights. Other threads have it. Must be a setting to check.

Daily Moan... Americans saying Boo-ey and boo-ies instead of boy and boys for buoy.

Watching Little Einstein with Little Baby after lunch, and they must say it half a dozen times, each time more gratingly than the last.

It's a fair guess that the words is linked to buoyancy.

Do they also say boo-ee-ancy? Not without being smacked in the gob they don't.
