Samsung is likely to launch the successor to its phablet Galaxy Note at the upcoming IFA trade fair in Berlin, reported Korean publication DDaily.According to the report, Samsung is hosting Mobile Unpacked 2012 Episode 2 event on August 30, which is traditionally used to unveil new smartphones and tablets. The company has held seven Unpacked events till now and even the original Galaxy Note was announced at last year's IFA.
Samsung Galaxy Note 2 is expected to feature a 5.5-inch display with a very thin bezel and company's own quad core processor, 2GB RAM and Jelly Bean.

the article says quad core which would be logical - but GSM arena says dual core

I got my hands on a SGS3 today, and I gotta say its pretty dang nice. Seems only slightly larger than my SGS1. But it's really svelte(thin) and comfortable in the hand like the SGS1. Its a bit faster and the screen larger and easier to see.

But at 24K bahts, yikes! I reckon I can wait a year or so for the prices to drop.

I got to play with a SGS2 a while ago and all I can say is what a clunker it is in comparison to either the 1 or 3.

The SGS3 is more like the SGS1 with gingerbread, which is a good thing IME.

Yeah... When you can get a decent android phone for between 6 & 10K, why would you spend 20K+ on something that does the same job, just a bit faster and with a bigger screen? - it's not like it's anyone's primary work tool?

Actually it's a lot faster and it has lots of bells and whistles. But it's not for me, I get by fine with a customed SGSII.

I've got the Note to play around with, the main reason for that is my eyesight is getting so fucking bad these days.

But I think I'm going to leave it on stock ROM and see what happens when it gets 4.1.

A lot of squinting. Well, not a lot, but enough to make me thing about trying a much larger screen, especially for web pages with lots of text.

Horses for courses. If you want a small, light, nippy and extremely customisable phone, go for the SII. If you want the same with a much bigger screen, go for the Note (it's dropping in price big time); if you want the flagship with some nice features (Samsung's, not Android's), buy the SIII.

If you want a really big SIII, wait for the Note II.
