    Really? Why is that?
Are you able to run Windows 7 on your PC system from 10 years ago?

    No?

    Then STFU.

    See, easy.

... Secondly with The Bat! you can export into unix mailbox format. If i am not mistaken - I haven't got apple maschine - the Mac mail can import from unix mailbox format...
Apple Mail has no issues importing mbox format, of any size (obviously limited by the hard drive capacity :-)

Apple Mail (also, just known as 'Mail') is part of the operating system, and is a standards based email client -- as long as your mailboxes are in POP or IMAP format, you will have no problem configuring it for as many mailboxes as you want.

One of the nicer features is that it provides you the option of a UNIFIED inbox, so you can see all your incoming mail in one single inbox, unless you opt not to.

    Easily.

My main mail account weighs in at 12GB so far (I host my own mail).

There are Apple Authorized Service Centers -- just like with all things, some are good, some are bad.

I'm currently trying to compile a list of center's people are having bad experiences with (albeit it seems that if you are a farang, they will accommodate you - they only screw over Thais) - and while there are a ton of people talking up how bad an experience the Mac is, when I try to solicit concrete examples, I somehow get ZERO from these same people -- weird, isn't it? ;-)

Either way, it's usually a good idea, as it is with everything, to show around for available options, and then research user feedback.

Are you in Bangkok, or elsewhere?

Your uninformed statement will certainly come as a big surprise to my 1999 Vintage PowerBook Pismo, happily humming along with OS X Leopard - I'm trying to convince the poor boy of the foolishness of his actions, by going against the wisdom of the all wise Butterfly, but he'll have none of it.

Running iLife and iTunes as well -- how dare it make you look, again, like the fool you are!!!???

    lying again Quack Quack ?

Leopard Pales Before Mac OS 8.5 for Macs Left Behind, Dual Processor Benefits, and More

So Leopard supports all machines newer than 3 years 6 months and supports some machines going back to 6 years 3 months old. Wow. That's it? Only 6 years 3 months at the top-end, and as recent as 3 years 6 months on the low? (Not counting refurb 800 MHz machines sold after the model was replaced as "new".)

Sony may be a bit expensive but are very reliable. I have two Vaio, the first one is 4 years old, I stopped using it because the battery doesn't last more than two hours. The second one I'm using now for the past two years is perfect, beside the display that is too small. I carry them all the time, never had a problem, worth every cents I paid for them.

I used to have a Mac SE long LONG time ago. My first "transportable" computer. I had this big bagpack I carried my Mac inside. Really heavy, but like that I didn't have to be separated from my Mac during the week end ...

you have 2 VAIO after 4 years, that doesn't sound like a sign of reliability ? or maybe you have low standard. The mac should just fit you well

The American organisation "Square trade" have after examining 30.000 lap top's concluded that 31% of all sold lap tops break down within 3 years.

Here are the different brands and the statistics.-

They also conclude that the more you pay the less change for breakdown.

As seen Apple are in the better half.

    Big change of heart !
Actually it started when talking on how to connect to internet through an iPhone. I unfortunately own an iPhone (it was given to me, I would actually feel very bad if I had to pay for it !) and it's an obsolute piece of shit ! I don't remember owning something worse than that, shit phone, shit camera, shit music player and even Microsoft could have designed a more user friendly software than iTune.

Then I went to the Sony store to refurbish my old laptop that I planned to give away and when waiting there I discovered their new NW serie. As good as a Mac Pro and half the price and I won't have to worry on how to convert all my files. The only problem is the battery life. It seems it's still where Apple has a definitive advantage. Then my wife said (she's the smart one !) that I can buy two additional long life batteries and it sill will be much cheaper than the Mac.

So now it seems I'm going to have a new Sony for Xmas !

VAIO VGN NW, 15.5" display, T6600 2.20 GHz

Sorry to disappoint all the Mac lovers but there is a bit more than 20,000 Bahts difference for as far as I can see no major performance difference beside the battery lifetime.

Beside it's not yet done so if Mac's fans have something to say for their favorite machine, they're most welcome !

interesting feedback form some mac fans regarding system generation

    From Gary Kohl:

I'm sorry that Mr. Hodges is so angry about this one, but I do have to disagree again with his main points. The fact that System 7.5.5 lasted 10 years is wonderful from a hardware point of view, but any history of Apple will tell you that Apple's inability to progress beyond 7.5.5 or minor variations of it (as Systems 8 & 9 were) almost put Apple out of business.

7.5.5 lasted as long as it did only because Apple couldn't get it's act together and produce a modern operating system. We really don't need those days again. We also don't need a return to the days when each new generation of Mac was a minor speed bump over the previous. Yes, the G3s were a big advance, the G4s somewhat, but the pace of hardware advancement has increased rapidly since the move to Intel and promises to continue to advance quickly.

Remember, again, it was Apple's inability to produce significantly faster machines that depressed the Mac market and led to the Intel switch. Things ran well on G3s and G4s for a long time because Motorola and IBM moved development at a glacial pace. There is nothing wrong with my Yikes machine or MDD G4, and I continue to enjoy and use them on a daily basis. But I certainly am glad that Apple is now in a period where it finds itself moving rapidly from generation to generation. I believe that's what it takes for Apple to compete, and if the price of that is that a 5 or more year old computer gets "left behind", I think it worth the price.

Argue however much you want, the pictures don't lie.

These are taken of the Pismo sitting on my desk right next to me.

    It's the one I've had since 1999.
