I've just booted into Ubuntu from a cd for the first time and am viewing TD through firefox 3 beta 5. I'm obviously going to have a nosey around before I start posting dumb questions, but first of all, the font is quite hard to read - how do I alter the onscreen font?

edit-prefernces-content - in the section "font" there is a pull down box, or click on advanced and make the minimum font size bigger.

There is an extension called No Squint, where you can save font and page sizes (in %) for each website.

I'll install it on my test machine in linux. My bread & butter is the internet no way I am fucking about with some buggy browser on a production box.

I tried running 3.0 rc1 from a isolated dir on my box it picked up on my personal settings and launched the installed version (2.xxwhatever).

^urgghhh, the standard setup of FF is worse than IE, install a bloody theme and some add-ons.

If you take the add-ons away from FF, I'd prefer to use Opera.

i don't know what you mean by a theme.

i have pretty much got everything working as i want to in ubuntu now.

my only problem is the playlist in vlc.

in windows i could chuck a whole load of files into my playlist, this is particularly important when i'm listening to audio books and there are loads of files / chapters.

in ubuntu i can't seem to chuck them all in and have to do it one by one.

Don't use VLC for audio, use Amarok, it's really rather good. Works similar to WMP, as in it will search folders for all your mp3's and then you can create playlists or just play them all randomly.
