    Wrong.

It's in the interest of forum members that you find out the answers yourself as well and post about them here.

    Torrent search - hacking ubuntu

You will get a few good books.

Don't even need to get books, there are plenty of ubuntu and linux forums about that will answer the questions much better than we can with a simple google search.

A book would help him a lot though. Rather than addressing problems only when they arise he can look through a book and read about how to make the most of his operating system.

True but one would hope he would read about basic setup techniques and then report back here with ideas or issues he has encountered.

I reckon this whole thread is a CMN troll. He's got no intention of going anywhere near Linux.

ok, here is a problem I have found.

hardy heron comes with firefox 3.5 beta version pre installed..

apparently firefox asked for it to be tested with ubuntu 8.04.

it was absolutely fine for a few days, but then started having temporary freezes every so often.

I installed firefox 2 from the package manager and that's all dandy.

decided to see if anyone else was having problems with the beta version and found a few reports.

apparently there is a known bug which is causing firefox 3.5 to hog a massive amount of cpu space. It has apparently been fixed via the ubuntu updates.

downloading updates now to see if it performs any better.

None of my firefox extensions work with 3.5, so I never used it.

i wouldn't bother using it till it's all fixed up.

shouldn't really have been the pre-installed browser i don't think.

just been reading the manual fix solutions and it looks a lot like rocket science to me.

This thread is a perfect example showing that no matter the OS, the average user or retard will always fuckup the software he installed,

it's not a Linux or Windows thing, the real question is "should we let them near a computer"

    ^ good.

That was a lot more educational than you asking questions and having to wait for answers.

I'll not install Firefox 3 as long as it's not a final and stable release.

I was frustrated enough playing with Archlinux testing. Now I prefer the stable releases, it just run smoothly.

You can use the Firefox Nightly Tester Tools plugin to make your older extensions compatible with newer versions of Firefox. It's very easy to use, just click "Make All Compatible" in the extensions window.

No way I will go to some Release candidate with known issues. Tried running 3.0rcxx in a separate directory but it picks up on my main version and runs that.

But I will need to test my sites and apps in it. Surely this a good reason to buy a third desktop machine??

firefox 3.5 is working absolutely fine now since i installed the updates.

people on the ubuntu forums seem very happy with it since the bug was fixed.

haven't really tried many add ons, one i use most is the bb code and that works fine.
