^ or maybe the added weight of a nice bridge will give me some more bass end; always nice...

Added weight to the body might help to stop the famous SG dive too, so maybe I will get a nice tailpiece.

OK, one shop got back to me, so I paid for some stuff, it'll arrive on Thursday:

It'll match me pickups beautifully - the contrast will add a dimension.

After looking at numerous, perhaps hundreds of SG pics, these are clearly the outstanding dials, and a step up from the slippery shite currently on the geetar...

    To keep her clean:

Alas, the one thing I was really after, a Vox amp in this case, is not in stock. Nonetheless, I feel that my geetar playing has been improved significantly with this purchase. Once the bits are on, I will (of course...) post pics.

Regarding the amp... the missus is going back to Thailand on Saturday for 3 weeks and she may or may not return with my 15w Kirk Hammett edition Randall; depends on her mood which I cannot predict.

    Mine actually looks like this:

(it's quite a good little practise amp, actually)

Next month, I'll whack on a Gotoh bridge. After that, I'll be fuked if I can think of anything else that needs doing, so I may have to play the little blighter...

You wanted more pics, well here you go: ask and yee shall receive (don't ask, and you're still gonna bloody well get!):

It turned out that the cream was too creamy, so I will have to order up an ivory. I will keep the cream in case I get more creamy coloured pickups in future. I'm thinking I'll be needing a Gibson Dirty Fingers for the bridge.

The spoon proved to be the perfect device to get the knobs off.

    Improvement?

I think so, and there's more space to get your fingers in amongst the knobs and sort out the settings just as you like 'em as and when you go along.

It's time to start thinking big BB, but you'll have to install a whammy bar yourself:

    The Stunning Diamond-Encrusted Fabergé Fender

    28 Jan 2015
About £660,000. That's probably what you came here to find out, right? But stick around - there's to the "Fabergé Fender" than that.
Inspired by the immaculate detail of the Fabergé Pine Cone Easter egg, the Pine Cone Fender Stratocaster hasn't been made for an anniversary or any formal occasion - it's just to show off. Something it does very well.
Embedded into the body, fingerboard and headstock of this stunning axe are 550 high-grade diamonds, mirroring the egg's own glittering array of jewels. Each of those Pine Cone "scales" is gilded with fine silver and 18-karat gold, with a further 10-feet of gold wire inlaid into the fingerboard by Fender's master craftsman Yuriy Shishkov. And you probably guessed it, all the hardware is gold plated as well.

"I thought that the timeless, simple yet elegant pattern design of a Fabergé Pine Cone Easter egg would look beautiful on the Stratocaster body", explains Shishkov. "The goal was to make a very clean and vibrant tribute to old-world craftsmanship." We think he succeeded.
Accompanying the guitar in its velvet-lined box is a authentic limited-edition Fabergé Pine Cone Easter egg, completing a package that Fender expects to raise $1 million (£660,000) when the guitar is put up for auction later this year.
No matter how good you think you are, no one is ever going to take you seriously wielding this at the next open mic night.

Question: why are all the best geetar players lefthanded SG men?

I'll give you an example of 3. The first two you already know: Tommi (above) and me. Here's the third:

    Now, he can play:

Ollie’s music involved many diverse elements. Primarily, perhaps (since this is what first attracted attention), he could play very fast and was the first to discover how to do it. Forget Van Halen, Satriani [and others]; no one has matched his technique. Second, and more importantly, Halsall possessed a melodic sense that transcends any formal analysis. Besides Hendrix, only two others stand in the same league – Richard Thompson and Django Reinhardt.

This geezer needs to sort his guitar out, but he has sorted those first 3 chords quite well.

    Blackstar Fly 3

Fly-away tone from this micro amp

    Michael Brown (Total Guitar)December 25, 2014, 12:13 UTC

Building on the already compact ID:Core series, the Fly 3 takes the micro amp concept and runs with it, packing three watts, two channels, digital tape delay and Blackstar's Infinite Shape Feature for British and American sounds.
"It's the tone that makes the Fly 3 such a resounding success"
What's more, you can even buy an extension cab (£19.99) to create a stereo rig, which works brilliantly for playing tunes via the 3.5mm audio-in jack.

It's the tone that makes the Fly 3 such a resounding success, though; it sounds as good as practice amps four times the size, with a meaty bass response, American-style cleans and hefty gain. Dialling in a touch of tape delay helps to enhance the size of the sound, too.

Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming "Wow! What a Ride!"

This one has your name written all over it, and comes in a lovely colour too...

I'll see if the missus brings me practice amp back with her before deciding what to do. That little blackstar comes in an interesting set - but the price of these uber small amps is as much as a VOX 10 pathfinder...

Now this bit of kit is interesting, an everything amp with bluetooth speaker, but not cheap.

    Yeah.. but that's your colour

I think this is what you need when you was talking about that tube pedal before.. a tube screamer to give you tube type overdrive through a solid state amp.. this Russian beauty has the added bonus of a 'fat' switch.. oh yeah.. switching to FAT ... rock on

This Fly 3 on the other hand is fokking incredible.! Check out this review and put the quality setting to at least 480p to get the full audio range. Just wow!

I've got an Orange mini crush practice amp that is (was) about as good as you could get for a practice mini, but which is very limited to the sound and level you can produce with it, this Fly 3 on the other hand is just amazing not only in the output but also the range, mate I am going to buy one of these just because I want to have one.
