Stuff like teenage kicks is fun and easy to play. Anything 12 bar bluesy, either focusing on A, D and E or G, C and D is fun - especially when power chording... A few little intro, outro and riffs (either something like Pixies where is my mind, or the Hendrix scale from Hey Joe) can be fun then just whack some rhythm inbetween. This fella is fun, it looks really hard, but he isn't really doing that much - ok, I'm not that good or anywhere near, but I can understand what he's doing and have a shockingly poor go at it:

He's sitting down...and cannae see his guitar...

Prompted by Dil's interest in this thread, I thought you lot, especially Dil, might like a look at me new pedals; 3 of them:

The MXR pedals are great quality and highly recommended.

The yellow one is a chorus, it's ok.
The green one is a phaser, it's ok.
The Gold one is the MXR Custom Badass Modified OverDrive, and it is the dog's lickables. I've got a few pedals now, maybe 9 or 10, and this pedal is the best. It's all about the OD lurrrrrrrrve.
    Cycling should be banned!!!

I can't play well, but I can buy good gear! My gear would put Eric Clapton's collection to shame!

The absence of pedlars is very noticable these days. Where does one get a mad axe sharpened in suburbia today?

I'm thinking of getting a new plectrum.

    My old one is black.

The new plectrum is not for me.

It's a diversionary tactic for the wife.

She will be so pissed off with her new gift that she will not notice me swinging my Adonis toward her heed.

I am also thinking of getting a lawyer.

There's a lot to be said for getting a new plectrum!

Here's an interesting video on the subject:

Good luck and please add a full write up of your experiences.

I'd just like you all to know about these two:

They are amazing. The La machine is just a fuzz to outfuzz all other fuzzes - it's purple, and I think you know what that means!

The Distortion+ is 70s/80s stadium rock, and it's great! Think Randy Rhodes.

I've sold most of me pedals, just got 4 left: 3 distortions and a phaser.

If you're in the market for new pedals then you need look no further than MXR because they are:

The La Machine is an absolute monster; it might just be the best thing that's ever happened in my life!

I also decided to get an acoustic.

I wanted a nice solid top, bone nut and saddle, top end tuners, just quality allround really - but cheap!

I paid just under $400 for this Ibanez AW400 with the Gator hardcase; money well spent because it plays great and sounds great.

    Do you sing along ?

First one seems a good choice as a party piece

there's not much guitar playing in the second

As for the third...... I'm thinking of jumping off a balcony

    Can you do this one.....

^ If you like fuzz and nice pedals then you're gonna love the 2 I bought this week - haven't arrived yet though, but by far the most expensive pedals I've bought, and I expect them to be amazing!

Safe to say that I have enough guitar gear now although I did want a Mad Professor Sweet Honey, but at over $300 for the handwired and $170 for the PCB version, I went for a $40 clone instead! (should arrive next week, the missus is gonna go mental when she sees the 3 new pedals...)

On the acoustic, I'm learning this one which I'm sure Dil will really like, but I'm also punking it up with some power chords...

My mate's boy is 8, is fascinated by the guitar and wants to be a Punk, but is too small to play mine properly, so I got him a 2nd hand 3/4 size for xmas. He has a little sister nearly 5 who has to play on whatever he has or kicks up a fuss, no worries found her a little 1/2 size guitar so no tears at xmas.!

The 3/4 size has got a great neck but the body is too light to make a decent sound, but perfect for a starter, the 1/2 size is good fun, actually has a more solid body, though intonation etc on both is crap. if they don't get used or get beat up I'm not bothered, I'd like to get the 1/2 size back one day though and bolt a full size neck on it... same size mounting plate, would be good for hotel room practice.

Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming "Wow! What a Ride!"
