So the good news is that my new pickups and amplifier turned up today...

The bad news is, the wife. She asks what they are for, so I tells her, then she says that I don't have a guitar. Before I could tell her my plans for an xmas present for meselves, she tells me in no uncertain terms that I is not gettin a new guitar...

She says, the evil boss says, that I have to wait til she returns from Thailand in a month or so, then she'll bring me Ibanez with her.

Well, I thinks, if that be so then I'm gonna buy meselves some nice Gotoh tuners and a decent nut, so that once I hardtail the xtra shite tremolo system, I is got a decent near SG set up. Alsos, me is thinkin that I can get enuffer single coil for the centre position, and I is thinking about either a really nice and thick bluesy number or a single coil P90.

I have no idea what you are saying.

What level are you at Betty?

I can do some 3 chord tricks and impress a small circle of friends with my "Zombie" rendition, but this sounds like some next-level s%$t going down!

    Best guitar thread ever.

Betty you're off ya meds mate but fuck that.. do not let the mrs pussy whip you over the guitar man..! no fucking way.!! It's a jealous thing bro' women are just evil like that, and this is just the beginiing. Man fuck it I'd go straight out and buy a guitar for $500 I'd rather be in the dog house with a guitar to play, than all that power trippin pussy whippin you're gettin anyway..

Rock n Roll Betty.. show her who the daddy is.
Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming "Wow! What a Ride!"

The missus doesn't seem to understand, Neo; she keeps spurting crap like 'but you can't play the guitar', then she gets all personal and says stuff like 'you've had 4 or 5 guitars and never been able to play any of them', sometimes she really goes over the top with 'and you NEVER will be able to play'... Horrible cow...

I've got parts of a guitar and an amp. As soon as I've booked her ticket back to Thailand, I'll be back on the web buying more bits - but it does look like I might be upgrading my Ibanez. As you so rightly said, it needs hardtailing. I'll post a pic of the new tuners and middle pick-up when I get them (might as well throw in a Graphtec nut while I'm at it...), and a bandana.

Sounds like you got a battle of wills on your hands there... Never surrender Betty.!

As for the nut I advise you hold off and get a professional to replace it, firstly so you can custom the string spacing.. I prefer the bottom E well away from the edge of the neck, you may prefer it closer, the string.spacing needs.adjusting accordingly, you can only do that with a custom nut rather than a pre cut. Secondly replacing the nut is quite a delicate task, they're bonded in and you can write off the whole neck trying to get it out, fitting a new one in needs a professional finish. I had one made for my guitar out of synthetic ivory, saweet it is too.

    So, I've a new idea...

    This site/manufacturer:

Custom Shop Electric Guitar SG G400 Red with Bigspy Tremolo & SG Guitar Left Handed Available-in Guitar from Sports & Entertainment on Aliexpress.com | Alibaba Group

Who make to order nice quality stuff, seem to have good ratings and feedback, get them to make me something like this in LH:

I don't want the tremelo, I don't want it pretending to be an Epiphone or Gibson or saying 'made in America'. I don't even care what pickups they put in because I will put my Wilkinson zebras in, but I'd really love a Pelham Blue SG with silver trimmings in Lefthander model...

I wonder if they'd be kind enough to add coil splitting for my 4 wire pickups???

    This is a plan!

^ adding to my previous post, I've noticed that many (most) of these Chinese made unbranded SGs have the bridge (is the first bit the stop piece or the tail piece???) very close to the bridge pickup; much closer than the ESP, Epiphone and Gibson models do. This worries me - any idea why they do this?

Now, if it was whoever talks about, thinks about and peruses the interweb the most to consume then I'd be right up there!

(I do take your point, however )

^ cheap pick ups (not a problem) and tuners (problem).

I found this in Seoul; it's my if I get fuked off and get on the train up to Seoul (50 mins) guitar... Could be any day now. Good everything (boring colour... ), except pickups which I is gonna change anyways (nice Grover machine heads, good bridge and neck). Doesn't have the coil split of the new 400 pro either. - $250 ish...

    ????

Look nice with a pair of Wilkinson Zebras in, that would (sound great too), light and nice to play... Hmmm...

A Squire Deluxe... £300 I'm not sure that's good value, or that it would even sound good. The wood the body is made of makes a hell of a difference and they're made out of basswood, might as well be mdf. They have a humbucker pick up at the neck, that's a lot of drive which you need a heavy body like mahogany to handle. Fenders use Alder for a softer tone, Ash is also good.

£250 - £350 a second hand Fender would be better value for money, you'd get the quality of a £600-700 guitar.
    Otherwise I'd get a Yamaha for £250

    Yamaha Pacifica 112v

With a good set up you'd blow a Squire away.

^ Chinese ones? Probably good value for money, and might get exactly what you want, but you just don't know...

I'm gonna get this on Friday:

Or try to... I'll ask a Korean friend to help me. It's about $250, and I should be playing better than that geezer by the end of next week - the zebras will give me the edge.

I wouldn't buy an actual Fender Squire, Stoker - seem to be very expensive for a low end guitar; get an Epi or Ibanez or LTD instead...

Funny enough, looking at guitars in a similar price range, I keep coming across these Pacifica 112v guitars, and every fuker who knows his stuff says they are the bolox, as good as a $600 Fender strat. Not easy to get in lefthand, and I want an SG, but Neo has hit the nail on the head there!

    The standard one hasn't.

They have 3 Duncan pick ups.

The ones i've seen here really look decent.

But what the fuck would i know.

    I'm a singer.
