Don't disagree in the slightest. It should be compulsory viewing for some.

That being said it probably still would have little effect. Remember that drowned kid washed up on the beach? Some despicable cnuts turned that into a meme.

I agree. My cousin would be capable of providing a complete description and has done so willingly for me. The discussion was informative but not one that could be described in any way as pleasurable. She has seen a lot of awful things that she would rather not have seen. She did her best as a nurse to help those were alive.

Cladding believed to have been used on Grenfell Tower is banned in the US.

It has emerged, amid revelations that it would have cost just £5,000 extra for the contractors to apply a fire-resistant version of panelling to the building.

Speculation is growing about the construction of the tower after a blaze ripped through it "like a matchstick" in the early hours of Wednesday morning, killing at least 17 people died and injuring scores more.

It has now emerged that the aluminium panels thought to have been added to the outside of the block as part of a £10 million refurbishment completed in May 2016 are banned in the US on buildings taller than 40 feet for fire safety reasons.

    Be careful with "The Independent"

Yes, because the death of peeweeannoy - an old man who died from natural causes - is exactly the same as these people being killed in a fire.

Exactly the same. Oh wait no it's not - a buncha dead foreigners (kids included) means less to you than that old cnut carking it and is only an opportunity for you to dribble your 'hateful poison'.

Oh and fuck him anyway, he was an ignorant old bigot who reveled in being an ignorant old bigot. Frankly xanax, the best thing you could do for humanity at this point is to hasten the inevitable, shuffle off your mortal coil, and go join him.

Not only the panels but if the new DG glazed windows has been 30 minute fire-rated ( as they should have been ) then many flats would have not caught fire and the fire would have been kept to the outside of the building. Like many Council Refurbishments it's all down to cost and corners are cut....time will tell !!

just shows my sincere empathy towards the dead
It shows you giving yourself a big pat on the back for being such a nice guy, though the affect of that is rather undone by your inability to call out odious turds like Xanax for their horrendous opinions.

Please learn the meaning of words before you use them.

Empathy is the capacity to understand or feel what another person is experiencing from within the other person's frame of reference, i.e., the capacity to place oneself in another's position.[1] There are many definitions for empathy that encompass a broad range of emotional states. Types of empathy include cognitive empathy, emotional empathy, and somatic empathy.

Dead people are dead and it is not possible to empathise with them.

When cutting and pasting from Wikipedia, it's usually a good idea to remove the references to footnotes, otherwise you might look like an ignorant Welsh bellend who has to cut and paste from Wikipedia, and you wouldn't want that, would you.

I had no desire to hide the fact that the quote is from Wikipedia. I just wanted to tell people what empathy was and to that end I succeeded.

Now, any other words you want me to explain to you ?

I don't particularly mind if mine are binned but I kinda hope xanax's are left to stand as a cautionary tale of just what being a sad, ignorant and bigoted, hateful old cnut can do to you.

Why should I call Xanax out? I agree with him (in the main) and his view to curb excessive immigration... I can hold that opinion without wishing them (the immigrants) any harm...

Yes, I felt sorry for them, empathy ya know?... fark kin hell, pedantic brothers unite...

How does feeling sorry for innocent people being burned to death, make me a 'nice guy'? I would have thought 99.9% of humans on earth would feel EMPATHY for the poor victims, no?

She may be a virtue signalling librard but I think she's right about the numbers

So why are the numbers being down played?

    - embarrassing for council that most of units illegally sub let

    - embarrassing that many flats had 8-10 people

    - fear that council officials corruption will be exposed

    - worry about riots

    - government embarrassed that the building likely contains hundreds of undocumented illegal migrants

Lily Allen's Newsnight appearance cancelled after controversial London tower fire allegations

    BY RIANNE HOUGHTON
    16 JUNE 2017

Lily Allen was pulled from tonight's (June 15) Newsnight panel shortly after the singer accused the media of 'downplaying' the death toll of the Grenfell Tower tragedy.

Announcing the news on Twitter, Lily told her followers: "I'm sad to say @BBCNewsnight just cancelled me for tonight's show. They have someone from the council coming on instead."

The cancellation comes after Lily appeared on Channel 4 News and said that the number of dead following the fire is much higher than the official figure being reported.

Speaking to Jon Snow, Lily said that the goverment is trying to 'micro-manage' people's grief. "I have never in my life seen an event like this where the death count has been downplayed by mainstream media," she said.

"Seventeen? I'm sorry but I'm hearing from people that the figure is much closer to 150, and that many of those people are children.

"Those are off the record numbers I've been given from policemen and from firemen," she added.

Lily has since expanded on her comments, arguing on Twitter that families are suffering and need to be able to grieve for the loss of their friends and loved ones.

In a recent post she explained why she was "politicizing" the incident, saying that "the country is not measuring up well" in the way it treats its vulnerable citizens.

Although the most recent count has 17 deaths confirmed by police, law enforcement officials on the scene have cautioned that the final death toll is likely to rise in the hours and days ahead.

Digital Spy has reached out to the BBC for comment on why Lily's Newsnight appearance was cancelled.

The Met Police has set up an emergency number for anyone concerned about friends or family. Contact the Casualty Bureau on 0800 0961 233 or 0207 158 0197.
