Thread: On Topic - Off Topic

Well, it's nice to see the mods round here are doing a good job. Took a while for them to notice, but they've moved my "off-topic" comments into MKP.

(Although, i really would like to now about the gout)

I don't think bg's comments in the building thread were explicitly racist, to be fair.
Just his usual slagging-off of all and anything in the country he chooses to live in...

I think you've missed my point. I don't like it when threads go off topic. I like to be able to rely on a thread's title. But, when I complained about off topic threads earlier I was told by a mod:

It's just like real life.

You don't expect a conversation to stay on topic the entire time you are conversing with someone, so why expect it here?

So, I guess that's not the case anymore, right? Drifting off topic is no longer allowed?

To be perfectly honest with you, BH, there isn't really any hard and fast rules set out for the mods to follow. Any janitorial activity is done on a spur-of-the-moment type situation. A few things are discussed in the mods room (a certain poster wants to be able to post in dead languages for instance, even though no one else does), but most modding is done as and when it is felt necessary by the individual mod.

It would be nice to know exactly what the guidelines are, but you would soon miss the seat-of-the-pants ride that is posting on TD.

Other mods may disagree with what I have said though.
