WANTED TO...
after accomplishment of several work missions, retirement was on the horizon. I enjoyed the warmth of the climate, the food was palatable, enjoying the many things to do, living being affordable, and the fact that my Thai spouse who had traveled the world and live with me in the USA with me had some interest in returning back to Thailand to live part time. We purchased some land, built a house and moved to Thailand. Although we retain our US residence, the 20’s son utilizes that and although we make periodic visits back to the US, we have in general terms lived in Thailand since retiring.
We are comfortable living here in Thailand and it meets our living standards. Food, drink, golf, recreational activity, travel, affordability, general comfort, living standard, EXPAT friends, and ability to return back to the US or elsewhere at our discretion are all factors for deciding to reside in Thailand.

Enjoy your retirement.

I moved to Thailand because Japan started looking like the Land of the Dead to me, a moribund civilization full of depressed people. I've stayed in Thailand because it seems the best place to raise my son under the circumstances. I'm now dividing my time between Thailand and Japan, and find that the cultures as well as the weather compare and contrast very nicely. When I've had enough of one the other is nearly the perfect antidote.

Ok so let's take a little look shall we.
Buildings erected with no consideration for drainage causing whole houses to be washed away when the rains find their new course, great infrastructure. Massive flooding of tyrist areas, one of their highest eaners, for the same reason, yes great infrastructure. Roads in the villages actually built higher than the ground floor of the houses they ar built next to and again with no thought of drainage causing these houses to be flooded every rainy season, great infrastructure. Power cuts every time it rains heavy, severly under resourced hospitals, shite education system, massively corrupt police force.....where do you stop?
Buses and hookers is what they do well mate, the rest is barely getting by.

The company I worked for send me here, what a ride that turned out to be.
While working in Saudi Arabia in the 1980's, I was told of this wonderful land by another pharmacist that said it had eveything a grown man could want and more. I didn't believe him so I took a look for myself. He was right.

Can't return to Blighty and nobody cares about the 10 murders here. I am respected.
