it wasn't a guess. ok i'll expand. Teaching in Thailand is an honoured profession. I'd say for most Teflers it ain't that. Most I would suggest do it because it pays a wage and means they can stay in their adopted homeland indefinitely. Some of those will be good teachers, some of them really really bad.

Those that are say pissheads and use it purely to keep them from going home have got to be close to the bottom of the barrel.

Those that have seen it as an opportunity to stay here and use it as a way to support themselves and say their family are likely to be fairly diligent about it, want to progress and even advance in their chosen vocation.

The insult "tefler" is no doubt aimed mainly at the former. That said we love to categorise in the west don't we?

Who uses the insult most? Sex-Pats, the Retired? or Ex-Pats who have more gainful employment in real industries? In the case of the Sex-Pat well they are just trying to keep themselves from the bottom of the pile. The Retired chaps using it, should really grow up. The Ex-Pats who throw it about, well they are probably just fishing / trolling as they are in the best position of all.

So in answer, those teachers who use it as a way to keep themselves here and on the piss are scum, worse than those who fuck teenagers / early 20's girls and ruin their outlook on life and the accumulation of wealth?

Obviously not a "hansum man", cant afford the young "girls and has nothing to offer the older "girls" the life they require.
