^Not that jammy mate, luckily we're moving on soon.

We ventured into the village (which, literally is just that street above, about 100m) where it all 'happens' ..joined a seafood bbq night ...and low and behold, a group of Chinese were spoiling it for the everyone.

7 of them occupied a long table and another 4 a few metres away (it was full) the noise, rudeness to staff, smoking and general uncouthness was pissing other diners off.

Several kept getting up to talk loudly on phones by the doorway while smoking, openly flicking ash without a care in the world.

Food and a bottle of whisky were exchanged loudly and clumsily between the two tables.

The owner looked a bit embarrased and apologetic but soldiered through it. A tattooed Finnish couple with a young kid exchanged stern glances with the mongrel faced, pot bellied 'head' of the group.

Ended up moving tables and it was bearable. We'd already chosen our fish and squid for the bbq so we stayed.

Anyway we've had a good couple of nights so far. We'll avoid them tomorrow. It's such a small island that passing the same people 2-3 times a day is normal.

Luckily we got aircon & a tv in this concrete box

These two lie around the local shack/minimart.

hire a canoe and paddle around to Tham Morakot from Charlie Beach - do it early or late (tide is important too) and miss the crowds - its great and a bit scary going thru the cave in pitch black.
used to weekend at Koh mook over a decade (lifetime!) ago when living in Trang.

^That's on our agenda. Resort owner can get us a double kayak for 300 a day. Unless my phobia of being helpless in deep water hits me, we're going.

Heading for Krabi late afternoon tomorrow so will need to haul our sloth asses out of bed.

Luckily we're about 500m from the beach. There's a large deserted resort with an algae swimming pool nearby. The gf of course assumes it's haunted

Quality tourists at Ao Nang. Luckily, it's just a one night stop. Krabi is a hellhole, when was it's heyday?

This dad was feeding the kid the bun of his cheeseburger, breaking off bird-sized chunks

The conversation between this group and their 25 other dopplegangers sounded like crockery being thrown down a concrete staircase

Stopped at 2 red lights this morning, well a few more than 2 really, but there were 2 worthy of grabbing a quick pic.
Most of the Special Forces guys and other assorted guns for hire in Pattaya tend to fly under the radar, but not this one

Then this pic, complete with pointing fingers, may or may not be used by some jokers on here who are good with Photoshop

Ao Nang beach was always shit. Most of the boats go to other locals from there. Have fun!

Oh christ, we really did our best to. Rented bike for the day. Visited Nopparatharat beach as well, jellyfish warnings scared us from getting more than ankles wet.

Even the sunset couldn't paper over the cracks

And this is so stereotypical but true.....

A Chinese group nearby let their two toddlers run towards the water naked from the waist down..when they both squatted down l really thought they were gonna......

But luckily they just played in the sand

Every time someone posts pics of Ao Nang beach it is the same sunset.

This is the pic I took over 10 years ago

You realise the beach & sunset are the sole respite from the crowds along the strip, the rabble, the 'tiffany' type ladyboys charging for tourist selfies (outside mcd's) and the kerb crawling songthaews.

I would like to see some photos of that strip from the past.

I'd give koh mook another 2yrs before its swamped by the zero dollar groups.

Siwalai beach gave us one clue so far...

Beautiful sunset, Pat. Wish I was there atm. I'm surprised there are jellyfish about. I saw a lot of them in Hua Hin as well. My good friend from here will be in Ao Nang next weekend. She plans on rock climbing at Railay. She had heard from people currently in Tonsai that there has been a pretty big dengue fever outbreak. She is avoiding that area. Put lots of bug spray on to be extra safe.

What is E.z? It does look lovely though. It is about that temp here and you definitely need a winter coat and boots, baldrick! Drink some hot tea or some brandy!

Ao Nang was really a bit of a hellhole to be honest. The noise and rabble walking about and groups of loud European blokes swigging from bottles getting in everyones way.

The better foodstalls are further down as Nopphra Thara starts (after that red bridge on the bend).

The Ao Nang beachside places are very expensive and full. Must be a main stop on the zero dollar tour route.

Mangoes are in abundance too. Smoothie stalls have doubled in number in the last 2yrs I was there. Papaya smoothie is a must. Heard nothing about this fever outbreak, mozzies are a f**king pest as usual.

Great shot, Pat. Really made me laugh. I'm copying this onto my computer for future reference.

That is to say : it is iconic of Chinese tourists. The girl on the right looks like a sick frog !
