Here is one of the ways we pass the time in Isaan. Aside of being liquored up all the time, our hobbies can be quite lethal. The following rockets you see are built from scratch to include the fuel that powers them. I have never built one as big as shown but I have assisted in their construction (I am still learning). My wifes uncle makes his own home brew powder for the engines. Here is one of the rockets that our village competed with.

We had a misfire.. very dangerous to re-ignite

The way this engine is starting could explode, the bottom was packed too loose

We got lucky and she flared just right

The local Heavy Weights from a neighboring village. We did not stand a chance. If a Rocket misfires and explodes this size there will be a funeral so we backed up.

This one started funny and sprayed crap all over the camera

Carrabow, you need to get a contract with the North Korean Rocket, Space, and Missile Agency. You might be able to teach them something.

That was actually my nephews who built that one. They need to get a hold of Uncle Sanee or the local heavy weights from Pon Ko & Sanom.

Yea, theres something about them thats alluring. I suppose the fact they're constantly moving, and never stay the same adds to the attraction.

I lived in Glossop as a kid, the view from my house was of the moors looking up the Woodhead valley, beautiful, especially when the hills turned purple during the summer.

Nice pic, you can see how the gritstone edges become more and more exposed as everything gets washed down hill.

I can't remember all the pubs in Glossop, a couple I can recall are The Trap and The Howard, that's it. Last time I visited was around 97 on a short trip back to the UK, I remember it was Victorian weekend. Steam trams and Victorian dress on the high street.

I've a couple of pics from the area, will post them when I work that out.

here is a morning visitor to Villa SEA Traveler that I noticed during my morning watering of the plants. I think they call this one a "Ginka". A little larger than a "Ginko" and considerable smaller than a "Tokay". A very timid garden visitor he was.
