Sounds it, but if you saw the ghettos here, mainly black & Asian, which are no-go areas for white folk, you would think seriously about whether we needed any more.

Don't get me wrong, I'd swap them for the Paki's in a flash, but it doesn't work like that.

These people won't mingle in. They will move to one area & dominate it.

With the greatest respect mate, you've obviously never met these folk.

Trust me, they would be the most polite, docile and conformist neighbours you could ever wish for.

Scotland Yard has identified 180 crime gangs, speaking 24 languages, who are thought to be responsible for a third of murders in London. Almost half, 47 per cent, are classed as "cultural networks" whose members are bound by a common language or homeland. Police have made Turkish, Chinese, Vietnamese and Colombian gangs - whose victims are often from their own communities - their top priority.

I believe you, but we don't need any more ethnic food shops or churches converted into mosques & stuff like that.

Commonwealth soldiers aren't British citizens, neither are Gurkhas. What's the difference? If you're dismissing the Gurkhas as mercenaries because they aren't fighting for their own country then the Commonwealth soldiers are mercenaries too.

Yes they did do it for the cash. They served our queen and country very well over the years, and should be rewarded for doing so. I would much rather see a former Gurkha walking down the street than the economic migrants that infest our country, and wouldnt even consider serving the country they call "home".
Bring back national service, and immigration would fall over night, but the Gurkhas would still be here.

not many people do much for their country, they just work for money and live their life. Normal really. Even MPs seem to work mainly for themselves!

The Gurkas wanted to work for the UK army because they got paid very well compared to the wages back home. OK so they are in the army, so what? They certainly were not patriotic until they had been in the army for some time, why would they be?

And why would they want to live in the UK? Give them a decent pension and they can happily live in Nepal like rich buggers
    I have reported your post

The Whole point of this is that post 1997,when they moved the garrison from Hongkong, they had an automatic right to UK residancy. Pre 97 wanted the same.

Come into this thread rather late, but heres my 2 pence.

It is not often that I disagree with Redrum but this time I do. He is either trying to troll this thread and I would say had never met a Gurkha in his life. They are some of the most pleasant and polite people that I have met.

I was stationed in Hong Kong early sixties and we had a company of Gurkhas attached to the battalion throughout our stay. They were a great asset to the battalion, friendly, fun loving and fiercely loyal to the Queen and the British. I know that I would rather have them backing me up in a fight than many others.

And for Redrum to say that they are mercenaries can only be laughable. Yes they joined the British Army and accepted the Queens shilling and abided by the sworn oath that is taken when accepting the shilling. This IMO does not make them a mercenary in the strict sense of the word. Maybe I am a mercenary as well because I accepted the shilling as well !!

We had a Gurkha regiment stationed in my hometown back in the UK. They and their families were a credit to the town. Always looked smart and respectable when walking around the town, unlike some of the other pondlife that's allowed to walk the streets.
I'm really happy they finally won this case, but don't blame them at all if they refuse the Governments offer.
Do not walk beside me, for I may not lead. Do not walk ahead of me for I may not follow. Just pretty much leave me the fuck alone!

If you decide to so, would you mind letting us the time and place? You could probably sell tickets, pay for your funeral.

Gooks are more properly Koreans- Hankook (the "kook" part being generally spot on in my experience). I think in the racist Brit argot a Gurkha would more properly be called a "wog." No reason to confuse a man before he inserts a kukri in your belly.
