No squirrel I don't think that is ok, all the inlaw stories on here sound mostly sound like hell.
Just that it was turning into the good old thai bashing with calling them monkeys, frogs etc etc so just thought I would offer a different point of view.

Chitown, I am not sure I quite get your comment. Are you saying that my inlaws must be the same as yours but it doesn't bother me because I am as foolish as them?

The wife is the same. Her dad was a pisshead mafia wannabe, used to pick fights with her, even shot at her once. It's probably only a problem if your inlaws are uneducated peasants who were raised without a notion of hygiene, sanitation or life... Probably would have exactly the same in issues with such folk in any country, it's just that back home we (those of us who are educated, and were raised with a notion of hygiene, sanitation and life) generally don't marry into those who aren't... It would be like marrying into an uneducated pikey/gypsy family back home who live in a caravan at the side of the road.

My GF is from rural Isaan and got the fuck out of there as soon as she could. Got herself educated and resents nearly everything about their way of life as well as the (non-peasant) Thai mentallity. As she has said many a time 'Thai people stupid', and has always pointed this out to the said Thai person when their stupidy has a negative impact in our life.

She only has contact with her parents, she resents her loser brothers and has absolutely nothing for them (time or money). I have nothing to do with her family as I would have nothing to do with uneducated peasants in my own (or anyother) country.

Our life is very different from theirs, no point trying to connect them.

I don't want to connect with them. I just wanted them to leave the fucking dog alone. Dog is now in a vets up the road for 500B a day for the next ten days just to make sure it's fucking foot is fixed up. even managed to get them to agree to take it in a taxi back to the house so that nobody can come pester the beast.

The brother and his wife ( a charming lady, two lovely matching butterfly tattoos on the back of her upper arms.) have a 5 month old baby.

It appears that in Thai culture when the baby is distressed, crying, needing attention the best thing to do is to make really loud noises at it which are similar. This will calm the baby and stop it crying.........either that or fear it to be quiet.

Haha, don't let them here you say that! Actually no, the khemers are a little distance away so they are all proud Thais around here.

I must admit my family do stupid things that piss my wife off sometimes which is a result of a poor education but they are clean, look after their equipment, don't drink, smoke, gamble etc etc which makes a big difference it would seem.
