Washing in a bucket of water hardly constitutes a shower now, even if you do put holes in it and turn it upside down.

    Nice one Q.
Happy to say I don't feel your pain -- often.

Try teaching a rural Thai the dynamics of how air with low-energy electrons (cold) naturally migrates to areas of high energy-electrons (warm). And how leaving doors and windows wide open in an air conditioned room will result NATURALLY, with no input or combinations of buttons switched on the hand remote, in the cold air mixing with the warm air in a homeostatic equilibrium.

Try highlighting the fact that while, yes, it might be colder in the AC room even though the windows are open, the compressor is ineffectively trying to chill the entire planet. To the extent that you can stop the high-energy electrons (warm air) from mingling with the conditioned air, there is savings to be realized in lower compressor usage.

They will exhibit their absolute grasp of this phenomenon by scampering into the kitchen for more bugs and fish heads -- leaving the door open, of course.

Chin up Q. Three more days.

Could you point me in the right direction where these facts are? Tit.

Also I am still waiting for you to edumucate me on the birth place of capitalism in another thread.

I doubt I am going to get any solid 'facts' or evidence on either topic to substansiate your drivvel.

Perhaps you should start by getting the particle physics right, Texpat?

The electron potential is the same for both hot and cold air, but the molecules will move at different speeds. The temperature is thus a function of the kinetic energy of the molecules, just as their potential energy is measured by the air pressure.

Clueless expats ranting about ignorant Thais - I just love this place......

My in-laws seem ok at the moment and they only live about 15 mins away (or about 4 hours in the old man's tuk-tuk). They are of course, as dumb as a box of frogs, but they don't give me any shit, only come round when its been arranged and go home at a sensible hour.

The dad thinks it's funny the the Midget goes there to eat Isaani crap, but he seems concerned about her welfare as he keeps asking questions about my sobriety, domestic violence skills and other similar things.

One thing they have noticed is how much better behaved the little lad is as well as his eating & sleeping properly now.

Anyway, what was this thread about?

Yes, you never see any Thais walking around picking their noses then serving up someone some food.

You stated "facts is facts" but you also put in the wrong type of bracket (generally speaking).
Please provide more of your "facts" they are very amusing to laugh at. Idiot.

^^^^ When you try to assess specific heat, you must account for all the energy possessed by the molecules, and the temperature as ordinarily measured does not account for molecular rotation and vibration (caused by ...? yep, that's right)

The kinetic temperature is the variable needed for subjects like heat transfer, because it is the translational kinetic energy which leads to energy transfer from a hot area (larger kinetic temperature, higher molecular speeds) to a cold area (lower molecular speeds) in direct collisional transfer.

What? Spell it out T - molecular vibration is caused by what...?

No argument there, although I think you should list the source when you are quoting. Before you cut & pasted this, did you actually read it? - because it basically states exactly what I said - that air (or any gas, for that matter) temperature is a function of molecular energy, it has nothing to do with electron energy.

If it had, the air would give off light (photons) when it cooled down.....

Yes, the more KM's between you and the in laws, the happier you will be, there must be an equation for this...KM Home-KM Inlaws=Misery.

And, never letting them over your front door certainly will help, mine don't get upstairs EVER, they remain outside, or at worst, can visit the kitchen, but that's it...once inside, they will feel they have the right to change your life, and will end up walking in on you whenever they feel like it...THE LINE MUST BE DRAWN, and NEVER EVER CROSSED! ^ The missus grafted hard when she was young, got a mortgage and paid for a house and an apartment.
The apartment was always hers alone. The house was meant to be for her parents to live in but everybody in her family took it as theirs as well.
The plan all those years ago, according to her, was that there were two bedrooms, one for her folks and one for her. That worked out for about 6 months, then her mum kicked her dad out and her fat older sister took it that she could move into the missus's room for a couple of weeks and live there. 7 years later she left it, to move to the town where the missus and I were living.

Missus got so fed up with not having any privacy she bought an apartment about 5km's away. Nobody was ever allowed to stay there without her say. Her younger sister shared it for a bit with her, but that was for about four months.

The house would be quite a nice town house. The village is quiet. It's well located for Bangkok. There is a BTS due to open sometime near by.

The family though, have fucked the house up, they just don't take care, dirty bathrooms. broken sofas, broken washing machines.
We talked about tarting the place up last year, there were a couple of cracked floor tiles and the ceiling needs replacing. Missus wanted to build an extension over the car port for a room for us if and when we needed it (never fucking again unless 7 of 9 are dead)
We realised that it would be a waste of money. That no matter what we did to make it nice again, it would turn to shit in no time because of the ignorant cunts who live here.

Fuckem. They can live in shit if they want.

That is why I dont spend a penny on the wifes house anymore. Her stepmum, brother, brothers girlfriend and half sister live there. Bought them a washing machine, 6 months later its broken from loading the thing like a fucking camel. Their solution was for me to buy a new washing machine every 6 months, hows about fuck off and take care of what you've got.

I put mosquito screens up when we stayed there for a few months, some on the windows and one on the door to the bedroom we stayed in so the door could be left open to let the room cool down. We moved out to a house, went back a week later and the mozzie screen on the door had been bent out of proportion. I asked what happened as it looked like someone had tried to rip it off, her mum said she saw a ghost and ran into it but from the way she said it would have just popped open instead of ruining it.

They dont deserve anything nice, if I gave it to them they'd fuck it up within a week.

Better is when the stick that sniffer all the way up their nose and tickle their brain with it whilst serving food.

Or that my wife says that 95% or more of Thai women don't wash their hands after taking a crap or whizzing.

Yes Rural Surin - Thais are picture of cleanliness

I remember being around a Thai's house once when her son pissed on the living room floor.

As usual that T shirt they keep in the kitchen was pushed along the floor with her foot to mop it up, then shuffled back to the kitchen where it is used to wipe the kitchen floor regularly.

Of course you know what happened when some of the food being prepared was dropped to the floor.

    Yup, back in the pot.

Yup, washing in a muddy river more often than everyone else does not perfect hygiene make.

My g/f and I are both expats so we are free of parental and in law influence. I am planning on going to meet the in laws for a fortnight in October and then not seeing them again for a very long time.

We've no problems with the In-Laws, even when they reside a mere 2 kms away. I get on with them quite well.....we're only 6 years and 10 years apart, respectively. Perhaps 80% of the blood kin {on both sides} lives within a 10 km radius. Extended family up my ass. Our bunch are different {really}. Different class - much more akin to country sophistication. Though, I have lived within the boundaries of the sub-cultures that posters are ranting about. I've an ex in Sri Satchanalai {Sukhothai} that fit the stereotype. That's why I've insisted and have agreeed upon that my daughters {from her} live with us half the year. Like night and day for them. Raising them with their 'half-sisters' here.
