It's hard to generalize about a nation with a population of 301 million, with many different backgrounds, and high percentage that were foreign born.

    Oversimplified topic.

    True for most nations, actually.

Must say never had a problem with the Americans I've known in LoS, they're here for fun, know the limits of decency and decorum, and have a great time without giving others cause to hate everything American.

What tickles me is when knucklescraping Brit louts weigh in about them like they're subnormal.

Mind you, could be I've met the right Americans or the wrong Brits.

I'd hardly class myself as either knucklescraping, or a lout. However, I am a Brit indeed.

and on edit: and I don't think Americans are subnormal. "Special" maybe.

On the contrary, yes they are. The chinese middle classes are expanding and consuming at an alarming rate. The also know how to save money in the bank also. They are an example to the rest of the world on that matter.
Chinese middle classes are buying cars at an alarming rate. Benz sales there last year were up 39% from the year before.

Islam is the new World order that has taken over from Communism as the American's arch nemesis.

America's influence is in terminal decline, militarily, economically and most importantly; spiritually.

I fail to see how you can come to that conclusion. The only way I can see US power waning, not ending, is if the population has enough of their politicians and sends clear signals to cease or lessen idiotic ventures like Iraq.

You underestimate the country and its people, I believe

Doubt their is a lot that can be done for their average penis size though.

What would you know about the average American, have you lived ,or spent much time there.
The average American is FAT, LAZY, (if from a poor suburb) The average American that is in business will sell his mother (can't speak for the women) to make a dollar, they are the most arrogant self sufficing bunch of twats I have ever had the misfortune to meet.
And in America, it appears almost "subnormal" to "walk", I walked from a hotel in NC to the nearest town, maybe 3 miles, to find a bank..to change some pounds to the greenback..I was trailled by cops (three times), hooted at by fat bastards in SUV's, and when I finally got to the bank, they didn't know what an English Pound was, (the bank even has a drive in window, where the fat fucks could pull up and do their transactions without even having to get their fat fucking asses out of the car!)and tried converting it based on Canadian Dollars...they would only change 100 Pounds, I initially had to borrow a dollar from the hotel to get a coke...if you can call it an Hotel, some shit hole near Smithfield NC, fuck, I'd pay a thousand to never go back..you can however look up on their local map, via google, where there SEX OFFENDERS LIVE!
You can go into Walmart and by a fucing 12 bore shotgun..if you have the right ID..imagine Tesco' selling Colt .45's, the country is a fucked up place, if you were brave enough to cross the interstate, there was a go go bar where "apparently" you could pick up a "Crack Whore" for the night for 20 Dollars...Raleigh International airport had a better approach, you could rent "Once You've had black...you'll never turn back" for 150 an hour...and that was at the Holiday Inn!
Then, turn around, head back to the hotel, followed by cops and 300Kg beasts honking their horns..fuck that for a game of cards!

Texpat, if you are referring to my commnets, NO WAY NOT IN A MILLION YEARS could I live Anywhere like that..it was HELL with a capital H.but don't get me wrong, I actually met some decent guys there, they were into hunting, growing tobacco, and were to be honest, down to earth, but they were in the minority..the fuckwits outnumbered them 10 to 1, and I don't mean "fuckwits" as lower class, the biggest fuckwits I ever met were running American business!, the average guy did his work, got paid as we all did, but the fucking "DREAM TEAM" at the top ruined it for everyone!
I make a jlke now and again about the Americans, and I have no time for the usual "LOUDMOUTH", same with the LOUDMOUTH Brits, but the USA is a frightening place, not for me!

The Americans we worked for always insisted on "GOALS" "ACHIEVMENT" "PROGRESS", (and they liked to MEASURE it) which we knew, and they knew..could never be reached..but they would believe this shit until the awful truth whacked them between the eyes...meanwile, the Brits had "ducked " already...a different outlook..and a different need to justify your existence.
The Americans I met were under SO MUCH pressure to keep their jobs, you could understand that they would burn their kids for a salary...very different! That's what makes the World go round!

Yes, I'd have to admit most Americans are "driven."

If you can't produce or if you think it's ok to show up to work late, drugged or half-assed, go live somewhere else.

You really don't have any business working in Japan either. They're twice as overbearing, goals-oriented and anal.

    Thailand sounds about right.

Freedom is great. I love being able to go down to the gun shop and pick out something to add to my gun collection.

    They gave you a coke?

The cops were checking out some idiot walking down three miles of deserted road in the middle of the day?

    I really don't get it.

You expect some rural bank in the middle of Bumfuck N.C. to do foreign exchange? Do you realize there are only two countries within 36-hour's drive from there? And neither of them use pounds. But you didn't think of that did you?

Actually, I'll come back and take another bite at that. I know you meant your comment as a put down. But the thing is texpat, I am one of the supporters of America in general. I don't think America is the font of all evil, or that America is a bad thing. I think most Americans are well meaning, good intentioned, and generally have the same sort of values that I have, and that, generally, America tries to be a force for good in the world.

BUT -- many, many people in this world DONT think that. They think that America is DIRECTLY at fault for much of the world misery, and that America does more evil in the world than several smaller countries bundled together.

So, my point in this, is maybe you need to be a bit slower in trying to trash those who, by and large support you - cause the thing is, America is running out of friends world wide at quite a pace. It might be a good idea to keep those you have.
Now, you might list the "attempts" that America does good for the world. In reality, this would be a miniscule list. You know my friend, it's very easy to be duped these days in the world of social engineering and thought manipulation. If an item is repeated over and over and over again - if an item is brought to your attention time and time again, it eventually become real and true. The reality and crux of it is, America {historically} has been the major instigator and cause of most of the problems worldwide. I surely wouldn't buy into this "benign and benevelent" shite.......

You just keep telling yourself whatever you need to believe, chuckles.

And by the way you've never answered the question; if, as you so often allege, people like me are so envious and jealous of Americans, then would you care to enumerate exactly what the benefits are to be had from being American? How would I materially be better off than I am right now by being American?
