    American Character

Deep within their souls, are American really a peace loving lot? Or might it be more of a trendy bandwagon kinda thing?

One of the merry makers. Spreading freedom and democracy the world over. By brute force of course.

Americas days as a superpower or the worlds only superpower thankfully are coming to an end, no longer will they be able to go round the world doing what the fook they like unchecked, and hopefully this will also lead to the average American losing their arrogance thus making them more likable people. Doubt their is a lot that can be done for their average penis size though.

Feeling a bit worthless and unloved today?
Here, have a glass of warm KoolAid and off to beddie-bye.

Honestly, some people just require more care than others...

Keep dreaming you two idiots. You can wish in one hand and shit in the other...

Even IF America went down the tubes, and it won't, you'll only have to redirect your anger and hopeless desperation toward some other people.

Must me incredibly disheartening to be such a bitter, helpless person.

Well, you know how that is - it's not the size of your missle, but how you use it.

If you don't like the way America works, do something about it.

Don't sit here whining for hours on end, typing till your fingers bleed.

That merely serves to make you seem, well ... pathetic.

Most don't know what being a patriot is, most just think it's about flying the flag.

You ever see the film "Honey I shrank the kids" (Rick moranis maybe?) - well, they made a sequal to that (!), called something along the lines of "Honey I blew up the baby"- and the "punch line" (I hate to use that) was this 50ft toddler, todling around town causing all sorts of mayhem and damage.

Well, I kinda see America like that 50ft toddler - well meaning, generally good natured - but by christ do they make a mess of things.....

Actually, I'll come back and take another bite at that. I know you meant your comment as a put down. But the thing is texpat, I am one of the supporters of America in general. I don't think America is the font of all evil, or that America is a bad thing. I think most Americans are well meaning, good intentioned, and generally have the same sort of values that I have, and that, generally, America tries to be a force for good in the world.

BUT -- many, many people in this world DONT think that. They think that America is DIRECTLY at fault for much of the world misery, and that America does more evil in the world than several smaller countries bundled together.

So, my point in this, is maybe you need to be a bit slower in trying to trash those who, by and large support you - cause the thing is, America is running out of friends world wide at quite a pace. It might be a good idea to keep those you have.

And your not. Are you also on a sef rightous pedestal, I think you should also come down. If you are so small minded as to base decisions of what Americans are like from what you read on this forem, I am quite sure you are far less than average.

    Here's the thing.

Americans, by and large, (myself excepted of course) very rarely disparage you and your countries for being what you are.

It's not because we don't think you're a small-minded, self-absorbed, helpless, disenfranchised, whining group of miserable pricks. But rather because we whole-heartedly realize that by doing so makes us appear as shallow and ineffectual as you.

Yanks make up probably the second largest nationality on TD. But we don't continually, sickeningly, repetitively rehash the same bullshit day after day. It really makes you appear as a frustrated whinge-bag.

    Can't you see that?

Texpat is not your typical American. But he does give Americans a bad name.

He is more like a typical Bush supporter.

America is not dong enough, America is doing too much . America is a bully. America is a whimp. All these tirades and accusations. Just so many things America is to all these whiners and cry babies. Oh let's not forget, "America's Days as a Super Power are numbered." You really gotta laugh at 'em.

These high-strung, neurotic and nervous types suffering from "American Fetishism" are sad, in way. The United States is and will remain the main economic and political influence in the world. The US has military might beynd that of any country onthe planet.

But it's not military might that gives the U.S. the power. As the U.S. Goes so goes teh rest of the world. When U.S. citizens are not buying the rest of the world suffers lay-offs spread across the world lie wild-fire, beginning in our own backyard. When the US is buying the world prospers.

I read how China is building manufacturing infrastructure and will soon dominatethw world's markets. China is NOT building a strong middle/working class to buy thoe goods. China's success or failure is directly related to the world 's economic situation the world's economic situation is directly related tothat in the United States.

Recently a posted came on here and went on some kind of tirade about a failing UK company that was taken up by a U.S. based company that filed Ch. 11 on it, thus protecting it's assets in some way and getting breathing room so a recovery could be attempted. No tirade against the Brit management that put them inthe situation in the first palce? Blame hte Americans. We fucked righteously they came in and salvaged what they could but it "THEIR" fault!

efw month back an Irishman came on here lamenting the lay-offs by an "American" company in his home land. Fuckin cry baby, why is up to American companie to shore up your fucking economy? grow some balls take the initiative build your own fucking companies, then you can whine when shamus O'grady closes the plant.

Times are tough all over, and American policies are partly to blame. I'll not excuse the actions or policies of the current administration, the corruption and profit taking that has brought us this current debacle, driving fuel prices up, killing growth in teh US and the domino affect those polices have had across lesser nations. I am as dissatisfied with the administration performance as anyone, perhaps more so. I'm an American, you see, and I see that the power of my nation has been misused, or at least mis-directed.

I'll not apologise either. The power elite, the very rich among most the other countries went along, happlily, nay eagerly as the debacle unfolded. There was money for all to line their pockets with. The administrations of each seeng a chance to line their nest with a few more blood dollars or pounds.

America is a Giant and will remain so for the foreseeable future. Sadly when the giant scratches his ass a few of the hangers on fall into the toilet. Maybe if they had some thing of their own, some initiative or balls to venture out with out leeching off the "Failing super power" they wouldn;t have been subject to whims of such a giant.

Don't worry boys, Amwerica will recover eventually, things will begin to stabilize, we'll put ya'll back to work and help you pay your bills once again.

Meanwhile ya'll canpoint fingers, call us names and rave against reality. I find it humorus that somma ya'll will practice the same white trash "blame the niggers," "blame hte mexicans," "Blame the immigrants" red-neck attitude you spend so much time lampooning so-called "typical Americans" for. Just 'cause you do it with some kinda posh-snotty accent don;t make it different.

There's Fuckin idiots in every fucking country. Some time spent reading the drivel that comes from some of the posters on this board shold convince you of that.

Don't give in. Rage and rail against America blame us all you want. Won't change anything but you'll feel better for it.
Do not go gentle into that good night,
    Old age should burn and rave at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Though wise men at their end know dark is right,
Because their words had forked no lightning they
Do not go gentle into that good night.

Good men, the last wave by, crying how bright
Their frail deeds might have danced in a green bay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Wild men who caught and sang the sun in flight,
And learn, too late, they grieved it on its way,
Do not go gentle into that good night.

Grave men, near death, who see with blinding sight
Blind eyes could blaze like meteors and be gay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

And you, my father, there on the sad height,
Curse, bless me now with your fierce tears, I pray.
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
When the people fear their government, there is tyranny; when the government fears the people, there is liberty -- T. Jefferson
