People want to go to America for all the things pointed out. No dictators, work hard and make your own money and get rich from your hard work, and take care of your family. It ain't easy, but it's better than living under Hussein or the Taleban or even control-freak Japan. If I was a hard-working third world refugee and had a choice between the UK, Germany or Canada, I'd choose the US.

Your totally right Jet. I dont disagree with any of that at all. Far more opportunities in the states, partly due to its size, also partly due to the can do attitude, and a pragmatic business approach. (thats just an observation from my own experiences btw, so I have no facts or figures).
The reason I jumped on this tread, is the above people passing off total bullshit as fact. The ironic thing about it all, is the people DF, and BG in particular were trying to have a go at, arent even Brits.

Just getting away from the in depth political discussion that you guys are ready to kill each other over Id just like to add my personal observations of America.

Personalities and politics aside it's is bloody wonderful country to travel through, fantastic landscapes, diverse topography, brilliant highways and awesome cars.

The Americans I encountered offered great hospitality, were friendly and open to strangers. They were fiercely patriotic but one has to respect people that love there own country warts and all, ain't nothing wrong with that.

Anyway carry on with the slaughter, as there ain't nothing like a huge shit fight to keep people on the ball.
