Yeah I read about purine which is linked to high protein. Some years back as some friends got it bad when at work. A lot has to do with diet, primarily animal entrails like liver, kidney, gizzard etc. I guess excessive anything causes ailments.

No it wasn't the beer caused it. It had been bloody hot for days and I think I got dehydrated . I think that brought it on. I didn't have any colchicine either. On day 3 I remembered my mate is a fellow sufferer and had him.bring around his stash. In this country it's necessary to see a doctor for your medicinal needs.

I knew this Mexican guy who would eat Menudo which is made primarily of Tripe which is loaded with Purine. He would have terrible bouts of Gout for days. Nothing to do with beer drinking or Tequila.

I've got 2 friends who both suffer from gout.

If it flares up, it will be after a session on the beer/cider.

None of them are particularly big eaters and one of them eats relatively little.

I gave up proper cigarettes a couple of years ago now and went onto a Philip Morris' Iqos device and heated tobacco. They have far less chemical in them and after you get onto them cigarettes taste revolting. I gave them up though and all nicotine 2 months and a day ago.

They reckon youve cracked it when you stop counting the days. but It's very very rare that I even think of smoking now and nothing triggers it anymore. What I did do when giving up smoking was to virtually substitute a lot of the missed cigarettes with beer, hence the need to give the liver a rest now. It was a bit strange really... Sometimes I'd think I needed something but wasn't sure whether it was beer, a smoke, water or food.
