With regards to NZ wanting to become a republic, I believe they did ask Betty Windsor about changing their status and she refused. They then asked her if they could become a Kingdom and she told them they couldn't because they didn't have a King, so then they said they would like to become a Principality and she refused again stating that they didn't have a Prince, and that therefore they should continue calling it a 'Country" !!

Talking about her maj's pins - I've seen several pubs called The King's Arms but I always fancied being able to say I was waiting for The Queen's Legs to open so I could get a drink (yes, an oldie ... but a goodie).
