You need to start thinking in grams to more closely monitor the effect of coffee on your system pressures.

I used to squeeze 19.5g of coffee into my large basket for one small cup of macchiato. Coffee is about 1% of extractable caffeine by weight (raw content is a bit higher but not all the caffeine gets extracted), so that was about 195mg of caffeine

I have dialled it down to 17g now which is about 170mg of caffeine

I notice that my Monster energy drink contains about 150mg of caffeine in a 500ml can

I only drink coffee every other day and I only drink Monster on a non-coffee day

But I notice that coffee buzzes me up more than Monster does. The buzz effect feels like more than a 20mg premium. It makes me think there is something else in coffee that contributes to its buzz.
