Ooooppps is Christmasssss
Not sure if a daily cheer or a daily moan.
Going back to study in your.... let's say summer years. An MA through Open University. Besides a few wittle certificates along the way, it would be the bones of 20 years since using me noggin' for information input.
Would mean a Monday to Friday of.
Kid school run.
Cardio exercise.
A few hours study with lunch.
Gym/fight training
Kid school run.
Haven't decided yet.
Anyone go back to study in their 4.... 3..... 20s. Yes, their 20s, definitely not their 40s.
Did you succeed or fok it off after 3 months?
Just how painful was it?

A few years ago during a downturn in the oil industry I used the spare time to take an industry course... a 3.4U Inspection Controller. This meant a 10 day intensive course which I took in Chon Buri, followed by two days of practical and theory exams which you have to pass... you don't get the certificate just by turning up.
I revised every night in the hotel room as I way outside of my geological comfort zone... corrosion, welding, NDT, photography, ultrasound etc etc. This was also the first time I'd used my brain for exams since my degree in 1989.
I passed, which gave me a great sense of satisfaction. I think you should do this as it'll do your brain a lot of good to be exercised, but find something that really interests you. Personally, I couldn't imagine never having difficult stuff to learn or figure out and my work provides that. I've often thought of doing an archaeology Open University degree but it's finding the time.
I did the Google Educator Level 2 certificate a few years ago if that counts.Enjoyed it.
^ What can you do?
Most ships already have shelves built in.
^ Health and fitness consultation + wordle advisor.
^ Did you mean 'pegboy'? Not like you to do a spelling error, Cyrille.
^^ Sadly neither are positions on the boats I work on.
I had two boiled eggs for breakfast today because when I woke up it felt like my flu thing was finally abating and this was the first time in a week I've had much of an appetite.
That was one cheer, but check out that baby at the front...
This is the real daily cheer today. Yes, a business class Kenya Airways spoon which arrived in the post yesterday... courtesy of the kind DR Willy!
It was too bug to use as an egg spoon so I will have to Christen it on a pudding tonight.
Many thanks Doc, Green owed!
No, forget that, this is business class... two Greens owed!
Yup, try 50... Did an eight week course in April - 2 assignments a week, lots of reading. It was an additional qualification course.
It was very very difficult to sit down and read and do assignments after being out of it for quite a long time.
I also did it online. You need to make the time and push yourself to focus and apply yourself. If I can do it, so can you!
All the best!
Does Airasia do metal spoons? Probably plastic. And you will have to pay $5.00 for it. So Tony Fernandez can afford staff to give him a bare chested massage while on a conference call.
I'm sure that Airasia will be plastic, and I don't collect them.
In fact the majority of European carriers are now plastic in Economy and you need Business to get metal cutlery.
The ME carriers are still metal in Economy and I expect that Thai and Singapore are the same, although I haven't flown either for some time.
^ 9/11 really heralded the end for my airline spoon collecting hobby.
I was offshore for the event on a Finnish ice-breaking vessel called the 'Nordica', but on disembarkation travelled through Oslo a few days later and had a set of nail clippers and a bottle opener confiscated from my carry-on at security, and an hour later had my first experience of plastic airline cutlery for the inflight 'meal'. It was new times and I remember thinking, 'this ain't good'.
Metal cutlery soon came back for business class customers, but not for us lowly economy class seamen. I never really understood that, because surely a terrorist intent on getting his hands on a metal butter knife would just book business... if on a one way trip to Mecca, would he really be bothered about the extra expense? Stick it on a credit card and he wouldn't be paying, anyway.
Since 2001 it's been a nightmare of random metal and plastic airline cutlery offerings and I sometimes wonder how I've kept my hobby going.
^ could be a retirement hobby. Spoon making. Maybe play them along to the Wurzles.
Soundgarden already did a song about you.
^^ Whoops, I forgot the entire reason for the post... it must be that Sang Som, MM!
Business class, Kenya Airways spoon, duly Christened on chocolate fudge cake with sides of ice cream and whipped cream.
Thank you, Dr Willy!

^Now that looks delicious! The spoon looks okay too. lol.
^ Actually, KLM have abandoned plastic in favour of this compressed wood stuff, I don't know what it's called, but still not collectable though.
