I quit using champix. Champix is not a nicotine gum so there's a misunderstanding there. Champix is an anti-depressant that was found to suppress the urge for a cigarette.... completely. I didn't want a cigarette at all when I was using the stuff. It's a powerful drug though and some people have severe side-effects on it so it needs to be used carefully.
It's a 3 month course. Once you have finished the course you do need will power to not start again but at least you have a 3 month head start.
When I quit I had all sorts of side effects caused by nicotine withdrawal. I began coughing up copious amounts of blood as my lungs began repairing themselves. Strangest of all was that my stomach become very distended. It wasn't just 'fat', it was spherical. Some gubbins to do with blood sugar and chemical levels. It returned to its normal beer belly goodness after a while.
