Jeff Horn defeats Gary Corcoran at Brisbane Convention Centre

JEFF Horn has defended his WBO title in spectacular and controversial fashion with a stunning 11th round stoppage of Gary Corcoran in Brisbane.
Horn appeared to be slightly behind on the judges’ scorecards early, but fought back after round five to control the fight.
Horn opened up two cuts above Corcoran’s eyes in the later rounds, forcing the referee to stop the fight.
It emerged during the ring presentation that Corcoran’s corner advised the referee to stop the fight, recognising their fighter was in trouble because of the cuts.
Corcoran admitted after the fight that he couldn’t see because of the blood flowing into his eyes. He still looked devastated that his own team had made the call, knowing he was still prepared to eat the flurry of punches Horn was beginning to land.

Terrence Crawford will really bring Jeff Horn back to reality when they meet. Gonna be a bust up. No vengeance or anger just a much better boxer.

^Doubt they will meet very soon. Horn is being mooted for another All-Aussie fight with faded anti-hero Anthony Mundine:

Probably makes financial sense. Horn will get spanked against Crawford, and won't get a lot of money for the pleasure.

Really dunno why they are bothering with Mundine given the large age Gap. Mundine is a great fighter but getting long in the tooth eh so if Horn beats him its no huge big deal.

Of course a great pay day though.

And terry Mundine was never a great fighter just a good self promoter.

Mr Horn has no interest in fighting the loudmouth Mundine,especially after a typical Mundine racist outburst that he gets away with,he is as weak as piss.

Herol Graham needs urgent help - Boxing News

^That's sad. Herol was a supremely talented boxer. He gave (one of my all time favourite fighters) Mike McCallum a hell of a challenge for his World title.

He took a hell of a punch (KO of the Year) and was sparked cold by one of the heaviest hitters of all time; Julian Jackson back in the 80's. Wonder if that did the damage to his mental health.?

Well worth a punt, imo. Crawford coming up in weight to fight a naturally stronger man in Jeff Horn. Does Crawford carry the signature 'pop' and speed at the higher weight is the big question here?
Horn (and reddog) better hope not. Bud has been damaging every guy he's faced so far.

Couple of boxing geezers in Pattaya this afternoon. Ricky's been here many times going back to when he was still active in the ring. Not sure about Frank though.

Wilder's in all sorts of trouble against Ortiz in the 7th round.

Wilder dug himself out well. This is a great fight. I thought Ortiz at 38 would be cannon fodder in the later rounds but he's giving a good account of himself.

And as I speak he runs out of steam....

Very exciting Heavyweight fight. Ortiz mostly outboxing Wilder, and stunning him in exchanges. Should have had him out of there in the 7th round, but ran out of gas.

Wilder showing why he's never to be underestimated though, with the biggest leveler right hand in boxing these days. Sets up the stage with Anthony Joshua nicely.

The Light Heavy division simmering nicely also. "Krusher" Kovalev had an easy defense of his WBO strap, but all eyes on the undercard where Dmitry Bivol put on a clinic against Dominic Barrera before stopping him in the 12th round.

That is why I was pulling for Ortiz. Wilder is completely one dimensional and has next to no boxing skill.

Unconvebtional boxer, but he has reach and power. He's a very hard hitter.

He has freakish height and reach though. And very athletic with it, although for some reason he'd slimmed down to a record low-weight for this fight.?
The other guys in this division must be heartened about Ortiz making him look very vulnerable in some of the exchanges, especially in that 7th round. But likesay, Wilder only has to connect with one of those missile right hands to KO anyone out there.

He is a freakish talent I am not denying that. I just prefer to watch talented boxers in the ring not just someone who can rely on his reach, power and freakish athletic ability.
