^Fair possibility. Garcia has a terrific KO ratio (30/36), but is moving up in weight. Broner has some serious skills but enjoys a tear-up and get involved in brawls when he should be boxing, so...?
Broner going back down to 140lbs might be the issue here. Presuming he actually even makes the weight, he might be seriously drained and vulnerable.
Good match-up move by Garcia's team, as Broner sells tickets and if Garcia wins he is back in the limelight and contention at 140lbs, -especially as the top dog Terence Crawford is expected to go up to 147lb where the money fights are these days.

^Bit of a an anti-climax, tbh. Garcia won easily, out-working Broner who looked a bit weight-drained, tbh.
Garcia looked sharp and has power at the higher weight. Broner's career as anything other than a stern-test or "gate-keeper" for up and coming challengers looks finished.

Can't believe the poor bastard wants to stay at home being nagged by the trouble and strife.

Wladimir Klitschko has retired from boxing, ending any hopes of a rematch with Anthony Joshua in Las Vegas.

The Briton beat the Ukrainian at Wembley in April in a thrilling fight where both men were knocked down before the 27-year-old KO'd his opponent in the penultimate round.

The rematch was due on November 11, but Klitschko – who was undisputed heavyweight champion for nearly 10 years before losing his title to Tyson Fury – ended any chance of that fight going ahead with his decision.

Klitschko explained the reasons for his retirement in a statement on his website. It read: "I deliberately took a few weeks to make my decision, to make sure I had enough distance from the fight at Wembley Stadium.

" As an amateur and a professional boxer, I have achieved everything I dreamed of, and now I want to start my second career after sports. "
"I would have never imagined that I would have such a long and incredibly successful boxing career. I'm very thankful for this.

"Thanks to everyone who has always supported me. Especially my family, my team and my many fans."

Klitschko's manager Bernd Bonte insisted it was a tough call for the Ukrainian to bow out after two losses. Fury had twice cancelled a rematch for 2016, before being forced to vacate the WBA belt, leaving Klitschko and Joshua to fight for the world title earlier this year.

And after such a close match, Bonte said it was a question of motivation. "Especially after this terrific fight at Wembley Stadium it was a very tough decision for Wladimir to make," he said.

" But he has always emphasized that he wanted to retire if he didn’t have enough motivation anymore. Therefore this is definitively the right decision."
"Wladimir accomplished everything in his unique boxing career. He dominated the Heavyweight division for over a decade."

World's current #1 P4P boxer Vasyl Lomachenko defended his 130lb belts against mandatory challenger Miguel Marriaga yesterday.
As expected, Loma put on an exhibition of his "Matrix"-type skills, footwork, and punches from all angles to totally bamboozle his opponent.
So much so, that he was basically clowning Marriaga by the middle rounds until Marriaga seemed to intentionally headbutt him.
Lomachenko then basically closed the show and stopped him in the 7th.
Hopefully, some meaningful fights now after this 1st big fight and promotion on ESPN.

His corner threw in the towel from the beating he took in the 7th. Well really all fight.

I'm going back in time a bit.

Here is a condensed version of the Buster Douglas v. Mike Tyson fight when Buster Douglas knocked out Tyson. Lots of hard hits by both. I missed this fight, as friends were doing that pay per view thing (iirc) and I said "naw, what's the point. Another 1 or 2 round fight with Tyson knocking someone out."

    That wasn't the case.

Other Tyson losses as well including the "pay per chew" against Holyfield.

At the time, I was in Phuket, and two Danish lads took Bt10,000 at 35/1 from a couple of Thais who bet Buster Douglas.

I honestly thought they would do a runner, but fair play to them, they turned up at the bar and coughed up.

I got quite pissed because the Thais picked up everyone's drinks until no-one could stand.

Heads up for this weekend. (Before Panto season starts next week ).

Boxing's equivalent of a blue moon, a full unification bout happening at 140lbs (Jr Welterweight) as P4P claimant Terence Crawford puts his belts on the line against other title holder Julius Indongo for a royal flush of titles at this weight class.
    https://www.badlefthook.com/2017/8/1...n-with-indongo

Promises to be a decent fight, imo. Indongo has the rangy, awkward style that might be a test for the previously untroubled 140lb star Crawford.
