HAHAHA. There are many of us that just hate to see a good cut of beef end up looking like shriveled bacon. You couldn't even sell that at Sizzler. I stand by my 3/10. Harsh I know but leaves room for improvement.

If you rate your steak 10, what rating does mine get?

Maybe to be fair, we should broaden the rating range from 1 to 100 and Chitty can't rate himself above 50.

That's kinda the point. There needs to be a differentiation between good steak and shoe leather.

I really do wonder if Chitty has ever in his life had a real nice cut of beef. A top shelf steak or a nice cut of prime rib. I really doubt it. If he came to dinner at Stump's or Willy's place he might never leave.

    I'll give you a 9!

I usually have little interested in steaks but those looked really nice.

I couldn't work out what the strange yellow vegetable was but have come to the conclusion it's a whole garlic bulb cut in half? I've never seen them presented like that and it looks great and is something I'm gonna try next time I fire up the convection oven.

New Zealand green-lipped mussels and French stick from Makro. They still don't have any baked beans in stock.

    Looking good there, Mendy. Again.

I agree with you re steak. I'll have the odd one as long as it's served with a sauce to give it a bit of flavour, but I mostly find them boring and hugely overrated.

Give me a great British curry or your chili mussels above any day of the week.

I guess we Brits just have a more refined palate than our friends from Australia and the US and their primitive desires for a hunk of burnt cow, caveman style.

    Gotta strongly disagree there.

A lot of the shit the supermarkets sell is pretty fukkin tasteless. You'll get nowt decent in Lidl or Aldi
But go to a Farmers Market and buy an aged prime rib or Fillet and you'll see a world of difference in the flavour and texture and it'll only need salt and pepper and maybe a tiny bit of your northern bisto jus

And you get your protein a lot quicker than prizing open and scraping out 400 bastard measly shells

I think there may be a big clue on that bag of white fruit wine

Is there a Wedding anniversary or a birthday approaching by chance?

Mussels look good. I tried some from Makro once and tbh they didn't have a lot of taste.

You'll have to try further afield for your beans, we are restocked here and Udon Thani probably has shelves full. You could make a long weekend out of it, in lieu of a passport renewal trip south. Udon Thani has its charms - I am told, yet to find them myself.

Nah, bollocks to that. Steak is what people who can't do flavour eat.

That is because you must be buying shit cuts of steak. Chitty has only shown pictures of total shit cuts of meat and that really has me questioning the quality of British beef because what I see of it, it all looks shit.

Right on cue, it's Dil's trailer park mate!

You won't find the English gentleman chowing down on a piece of meat like Fred Flintstone, I'll tell you now.

I've seen what Americans do to steak and it involves smothering their"prime cut of meat" in salt before briefly cooking.

Whereas us Brits are quite aware and don't feel the need to cover our food in Salt and sugar for that matter as well.

Our cultured refined pallates can appreciate food without disguising it and risking diabetes
    Shalom

    You tell 'em, Chits!

If they can't recognise your groundbreaking ideas in the kitchen, I can only presume all that sugar has started to affect their brains!

And where do you think it originates from?
It all came from the UK you fukkin bell-end

You don't have the history and heritage that we have and 10s of Centuries of long breeding lines from White Park, Belted Galloway,Highland, Red Poll, Hereford, British White, Ayrshire, Aberdeen Angus, South Devon or English Longhorn bulls*.

Have a Google and you'll find all your beef originates from our English Longhorn not buffaloes, ya numpty

To understand Americans heavy duty salt and sugar intake we have to go back in history a hundred or so years because we can't go back much further coz they haven't any.

In the absence of fridges and correct food storage the cowboys and settlers had to heavily salt their meat to stop it from going bad.
This culinary custom continues to this day.

The same goes for sugar, when they were toiling in the fields. Sucking and chowing down all day on some sugar cane was the only way to get through the arduous day until they could relax their broken backs around the campfire and enjoy some baked beans and raw meat.

Whereas us Brits across the pond were sitting down to breakfast with our servants spreading jam on our toast with a butter knife and sipping refinely on a porcelain cup of tea from one of our colonies.

I've just checked... the wedding anniversary was back in April and the wife's birthday was in September. The mystery deepens.

It is Shutree, but I got her a brand new screen protector just a couple of weeks ago. Her phone looks as good as new.
