Well, when I got back to the UK after years of smoking 65 baht gaspers and found that a pack of 20 now cost £9 I gave up pretty sharpish too.

Isn't it odd how things change? I remember when I was younger everyome smoking in the cinema and on the bus. Now I rarely even see people smoking in the street. When I got my first job all the desks had ashtrays and there was a permanent low cloud of tobacco smoke in every office. Unimaginable now. The very few people I know who still smoke won't even smoke in their own homes any more, they always step outside to light up.

In the UK, deaths from lung cancer have dropped considerably, especially among men.

Lung cancer deaths have fallen by more than 20% since the early 1970s, almost entirely because fewer people smoke.

Unlike most cancers, five and 10-year survival rates for lung cancer have barely improved since the early 1970s.

Instead, falling deaths rates are down to fewer people getting the disease in the first place.

The price of 1 package of Marlboro cigarettes in Melbourne is £17 (AU$30)

You used to be able to bring in a Carton of ciggies tax free, but the Government changed that to only 50 sticks.

No need for apologies ... I didn't know they were that expensive either.

Very nice Lulu, not to sure about the new title but I'll let it go seeing as though it was the 60th anniversary yesterday.

    Tasty?

Might something similar on Friday when I can have rice again.

Or go Chinky Take-Out style and have it with a polystyrene cup full of chips.

Pies back in the freezer today. 10 assorted meat pies and 2 portions of lasagne. That'll do for 6 weeks or so.

    Indeed.
Reference to economy class is being polite.
