Not pic worthy but dinner was 2 packets of chicken flavoured maggi 2 minute noodles with a sprinkle of parmesan cheese and a dash of tomato sauce, was lush.

A meal that I can only enjoy when visitors from home bring me some maggi noodles

    All good for a while.

latest visit from friends netted me 3x 1.25ml bottles of Bundy OP rum, 2 x 500gm jars of vegemite and 4 x 12 pack of maggi noodles.

We had went out for a bit of an off the cuff dinner tonight. Something a bit different from the norm, something a bit special.

My old mate Tommo first started off in Katherine but decided to move up to Darwin a few years back.
Needless to say he's still producing the best pies I have ever eaten.
Not only that they are the best pies anyone has ever eaten.

    They really are.

His wife's a lovely woman too. She does nothing.

By the way, if anyone in the Darwin area should want to order some of his magnificent produce you only need to call.
They'll be delivered on time and fresh from the ovens.

Did I mention Mrs. Tommo, she's great. Does nothing.

And so to bed. Stuffed as a tick on Tommo's pies.

    The best.

    His wife's a nice woman.

    Good on ya Tommo.

    I thought I'd post this objective opinion about Tommo's pies, just for your information like;

    “Good stuff, pies.”
Reviewed 14 June 2013 via mobile
A little overpriced maybe but dammit they do a pie and gravy and mushy peas and chips deal and in that doesn't speak to your inner drunkard then you've never staggered down a city street looking for your stomach lining. Also you possibly have no soul. You should probably get someone to take a look at that.
Yeah anyway that was an attempt at humour to lighten the mood (obviously there's no such thing as a soul anyway) not an invitation to theological discussion, the point is we're talking about pies so lightheartedness should be a prerequisite for this review. Pies are good but pies aren't serious. Nor do they take themselves too seriously....why, when was the last time you had an indignant pie take umbrage to a comment out made about it? Never, that's when. It just doesn't happen. Now as I mentioned it may seem a little expensive for a pie these days but it's like that every where. Basically a pie costs five bucks wherever you go now so we just have to accept it. At least these pies are bloody good, and they will open a little hatch at night and sell them to the drunken fool steering your hungry body down Mitchell street at the late hours you need them. And let me just mention again, mushy peas and gravy and chips oh man that done it now I'm all food-horny...
Oh yeah there's vego stuff, and the vegetarian pasties actually have vegetables in them, even green ones, stuff like broccoli.
All in all a good little joint and he you're in Darwin and getting on the turps (or goon for the rich folks reading...hi! What's it like being rich? Do you think we could one day be friends? No? ...oh..ok...) then you durn well owe it to yourself to get a pie into you.
    Good stuff.

    no, no, no dear pussy.

Just keep going up the track, past Mataranka, Katherine, Pine Creek and on an on until you pass the prison. Bingo, you're driving through Berrimah.

Stop anywhere and ask for Tommo's Pies you'll soon be right.

Ostrich steak for me today, with a few thick chips, a bit of salad and a bread roll. Finished off with black sesame filled dumplings in ginger (bua loi, nam king - บัวลอย น้ำขิง)

A bit disappointing. Not cooked enough, IMO, so some of it was too chewy. The cooked bits weren't bad. I've had it before, and, I think, at the same restaurant a couple of years ago. It was much better last time (and thicker). To be fair to ostriches and ostrich steaks, the very helpful and thoughtful restaurant staff used their Thai wisdom and poured over the steak an unasked for pepper sauce, which made it difficult to really appreciate the taste of the steak. I'm sure a bare-naked ostrich steak cooked more fully and cut thicker would have been wonderful. Maybe next time, eh?

Looks like you got a bit of salad with your bowl of salad cream too.

Do ostriches have black sperm? With a bit of luck Tomcat will post later to clear that up.

Whatever they are or were, they're in my belly now.

Here's a picture of the mother. She was waiting outside so I took the side entrance.

37oC today so it's out with the barbie again.

Half a cow and pig covered in coconut oil and briefly incinerated with whole beetroots and salad..
