And a squirt of freshly squeezed lime juice.

Having a Caesar salad and fried calamari at the Royal Oak. They should take the chef out and shoot him.

Went to a place called Eighteen tonight out on the newer side of town. Food and service were so so, nothing special but not terrible. Went for the local beef chuck- very tender but the sauce was far too salty for my tastes

Went for some cookie/cake hybrid for afters- rich, chocolaty and very pleasant in general

Washed down with a local beer and peg of JW Blue Label. Thought the JW was well balanced and smooth but nothing special- had nicer and less pricey single malts. Won't be splashing out on a bottle.

I find that although the choices of Western food are more limited than Thailand the quality tends to be better- perhaps something to do with it being a Brit colony in the past. Most Western orientated restaurants are packed with locals. Prices also tend to be on the lower side. Try as I might, I just can't stomach the local food.

Yeah, the one thing Thailand was unfortunate to miss, was a decent span of European colonization.

Haven't spent much time in Myanmar, but whenever I go to Laos or Cambodia the overriding sense of 'If only Thailand had these fresh baguettes, cheese, bottles of wine, buildings, English ability, level of intelligence, aptitude and attitude' really comes to the fore.

A few hundred years of decent European colonization really would have done Thailand and Thais a World of good.

Moo yor, a relatively simple dish but one of my favourites washed down with copious amounts of beer.

Well, Thais do go for that crap in salads, so he can't be faulted for authenticity.

You should be thankful they do as otherwise you'd be single.
