They look like TESCO frozen roast potatoes to me. If so, they are dreadful. Anyway, one should not have roast potatoes with pork. Also, no Yorkshire either.
My wife rushed a dinner for me a couple of days before she went to Toytown to see her mother. TESCO potatoes and pork that was not stuffed. She made stuffing but had seen the Mickey Mouse stuff served in TESCO "cafes" and cooked the stuffing, outside the meat, in the fat which cooked the meat. The result was disgusting.
Ordinarily, her "hot dinners" are fantastic. We buy top quality beef but, even so, she has a way of cooking it which makes it tender beyond belief. ( We always have our meat well done so we would definitely not pass the traditional test of beef being cooked on the outside but nearly rare inside. )
It's astonishing how Thai ladies can make our traditional food so well. My mother was a superb cook of traditional Welsh cooking but, I have to admit, that my wife has made beef dinners which are even better than those that she made.
My post is made not so much as a criticism as a warning. I have been very spoiled with good food all my life and I am sure that Ian's wife does great stuff. It is necessary, however, to point out when things go wrong. If you don't say something is awful, the cook can never really appreciate when you compliment her when she has done something spectacularly well. If I say something is "great", I really mean it. I'm a useless liar and she knows that something is wrong immediately by my manner which I cannot hide.
My wife cooks Thai food brilliantly. My mother was one one of the finest pastry cooks on the planet. Her sponge cakes were as light as a feather. My wife's efforts could easily be used to ram fence posts into the ground.
Having reread what I have written above, I seem to come over as a spoiled brat. I am. I have been lucky enough to have had food of the highest standard all my life and I know I have been very, very lucky.
