Yes, not actual tandoori, though taste wise it's pretty accurate. For aesthetics, mixing some yellow and red food colouring (to make orange) and coating the chicken with the mix before going into the marinade would work. An actual tandoori oven would cook the chicken in around 10 minutes, a very hot conventional oven 15 minutes or so.
I know all about the heat of Tandoors. On a visit to Rajasthan years ago we stopped off at Palpur Kuno Wildlife Sanctuary coming back from Udaipur and there was a tiny town we stayed on the outskirts of. We got a rickshaw into town and the driver recommended a resto to us and we got him to join us. It did fantastic curries and had a Tandoor out front on the pavement made from a oil drum lined with clay. They ushered us into the back where behind curtains we got pissed on a ready supply of the local 5% beer. Once oiled enough and full we somehow ended up out front trying out slapping bread into the tandoor, i only know this as we had the pics in the camera the next day, that and no hair up my arms and the odd blister.
An Icelandic curry.
Tikka masala, white bread and cheap lager. In front of the TV. On the floor.

It's really not that anyone is 'high class' or a great gourmand.
It's not us, it really is you.
Sorry 'bout that.![]()
Oh deery me, what pair of high brow curry critiques, what with Cyrilles curried tomatoes and Snubbles 2 minute microwave Tikka masala![]()
My curry batches are cooked using real dead chickens. The only cans involved are the canned tomatoes.
But they are indeed not a patch on PAG's mouth-watering masterclass.
^You should of banged those deformed plates up in the 'show us yer feet' thread PAG
They look like 19th century freak show specimens pickled in formaledehyde or something off Dr Who!
Don't be shy... post them up PAG!
Wow... after 9 pages the Curry Thread comes alive!
Nicely manicured feet, PAG!
Yeah it's a must to have a couple of them as a back up in the freezer.
M'Sahib just sent me this, one of those Facebook 'memories' things, this from 2 years ago today. I'd made a lamb biryani, a red lentil curry, saffron basmati rice, a cucumber raita, finishing with a lemon meringue pie.
