Summons the Scottish McNmawotsit for a start.

In all reality what foreigner is going to fly half way around the world at their own expense for an undetermined amount of time???
Unless they can pay for the flight business class and provide suitable a western hotel and expenses of £150 a day similar to the west ..
Even then they'd be struggling because of fears about safety, unless it was a witness for the prosecution!

    Apart from DNA evidence....

Maybe the immigrants were too ''legless drunk'' to remember, and perhaps that's going to be their defense.

How come they let the 3rd immigrant go?
how com he didn't confess too under ''torture''
Talk us through the scenario whereby two rapists and murderers perpetrate their crimes and flee the scene without detection whilst hopelessly incapacitated by inebriation.

The third "witness" wasn't a "witness" and has managed to leave Thailand despite initial detention by the Thai who apparently sought to invite him to give a testimony which owed more to duress rather than any recollection.

Your continual troll seemingly tolerated by this board is ever more ludicrous by the day.

Don't worry though I'm sick of my posts being deleted on Td, so will soon no doubt take my bigotry elsewhere.

    Back to the case:
you asked how they ''flee the scene without detection''?
    who says they did ?

Just because no one has come forwards doesn't mean they went undetected.
I'm not even sure it was they who did the murder part, but as they are saying nothing I don't care if they get blamed for that too.

Sorry for posting old links; but needed to bring Seekingasylum up to speed,
the 3 Burmese immigrants were out together that night,
    As shown below

Burmese suspects share a at about 10.30 pm motorbike behind Sairee Beach, Koh Tao.

THAI POLICE CLAIM BURMESE BAR WORKER HAS CONFESSED TO KOH TAO MURDERS - Andrew Drummond
They all got taken in for questioning
    2 confessed (now retracted )

the 3rd Maung Maung, was held for 2 weeks then released afterwards saying :

“I testified exactly what I knew to be true – that I drank beer with my friends Win Zaw Htun and Zaw Lin, that I left them on the beach to go to my girlfriend’s room, and that I found them sleeping in our room when I came home around 5 in the morning.

Maung Maung was identified as the third Burmese man, alongside suspects Win Zaw Htun and Zaw Lin, present at Sairee Beach on the night of the murder. He shared a room with the pair, as well as two other Burmese men, Nyi Nyi Aung and Aung Zaw Lin.
Maung Maung, Nyi Nyi Aung and Aung Zaw Lin were called as prosecution witnesses on Tuesday and gave testimonies in a preliminary hearing at a courthouse in Koh Samui, southern Thailand.
Moe Wai, a member of the Burmese embassy delegation that attended the hearing, said Nyi Nyi Aung and Aung Zaw Lin were mostly quizzed about a mobile phone belonging to one of the victims. The pair testified that they were given the phone by the suspects and decided to smash it with a hammer after being unable to use it, he said.

Koh Tao murders: ‘accused are innocent’ say Burmese investigators

Burmese government investigators say that witnesses who might be able to prove the innocence of two Burmese nationals accused of murdering a pair of British tourists in Thailand are too afraid of the Thai police to testify.
At a press conference in Rangoon on Thursday, the investigators reiterated their belief that Zaw Win and Win Zaw Htun are innocent of the murders of David Miller and Hannah Witheridge.
The bodies of the young English backpackers were discovered on a beach in the Thai island of Koh Tao on 15 September. Evidence suggested miss Witheridge had also been raped.
Htoo Chit, a prominent Burmese migrant’s rights activist is a member of the investigation committee, is adamant the 21-year old Arakanese did not commit the violent crime.
“Whatever the Thai government decides in this case, we believe these two young people did not commit these crimes”, Htoo Chit said.
The Thai police handling of the case has sparked international controversy, and has become a foreign policy issue for the Burmese government. Rights activists have taken it upon themselves to support the two Burmese migrant workers, who have been detained in prison since their arrest in early October.
Zaw Linn And Win Zaw Htun say Thai police forced them into a confession with threats of torture. A confession which they later recanted.
Htoo Chit believes the case is of significance for millions of migrants working in Thailand, and not just those from Burma.
“Thailand’s handling of this Koh Tao murder investigation will not only impact the lives of Win Zaw Tun and Zaw Lin, but the lives of millions of migrant workers from Burma, Cambodia, Laos and other countries,” Htoo Chit said.
The Burmese investigators say they believe that the way the migrants were treated by police will discourage witnesses from testifying.
Some of those interviewed were “strong witnesses” who might provide evidence to exonerate the accused, but they are reluctant to testify, said Kyaw Thaung, who leads the investigating committee.
“If they (the witnesses) say what they know, they will lose their job. They are afraid of Thai police and Thai bosses. This is the main difficulty for us,” he told reporters.
Kyaw Thaung said the committee would meet with Burmese government officials to discuss ways to provide security to witnesses who agree to testify.
The Burmese investigation committee set up in Bangkok said they have interviewed 40 migrants who may have witnessed the brutal attacks at the popular beach resort.
They say each interviewee fled back to Burma, scared of becoming embroiled in the opaque case.

Zaw Linn and Win Zaw Htun are due back in court on the 26th of December, facing seven charges each, including murder and rape.
Koh Tao murders: ?accused are innocent? say Burmese investigators
Sound like a charming bunch of people, if it's true they have info about the attack but said nothing, not next day , not now ...

They should have this dog in court as the star prosecution witness; look at it's body language !
He or she can sense the immigrants are bad uns ....

Nick Pearson Thailand death: Mum believes son was murdered

The mother of a man who died in Thailand last year told a coroner she believes her son was murdered.

Nick Pearson's body was found by scuba divers in the sea after he disappeared following a night out with his family on New Year's Eve.

The family, from Derby, had been visiting the island of Koh Tao where Mr Pearson's brother, Matt, was working.

Derby coroner Louise Pinder said there was not enough evidence to say how he died and recorded an open verdict.

Nick's mother Tracy Pearson, told Derby and South Derbyshire Coroner's Court she had "a gut feeling there was foul play".

The inquest, opened earlier this year as a result of Nick's death being treated as suspicious, was told the family had been out for a meal and drinks to celebrate the new year.

Nick's dad Graham had been the last person to see him when he walked with his son back to where the family was staying.

The following morning the family raised the alarm when Nick failed to answer the door.

Mrs Pearson said when police recovered his body the next day they were told he had fallen 50ft (15m) and drowned in an accident.

However, she told the court it was "her gut feeling" that her son had been assaulted, especially in light of what had happened to two tourists earlier this year.

Mr Pearson, aged 25, died on the same island where backpackers Hannah Witheridge and David Miller were murdered in September.

Pathologist Dr Michael Biggs told the hearing that there were many injuries on Nick's body, including to the head, limbs and face.

But, he said that most of these would have been present prior to his death - although he could not completely rule out the possibility that Nick had been attacked.

The coroner Ms Pinder concluded there was not enough evidence to say where or how he met his death.

Derbyshire Police are liaising with Thai authorities and the Foreign Office over Nick's death.

BBC News - Nick Pearson Thailand death: Mum believes son was murdered

    Another newspaper on the case.....

Nick Pearson inquest: Family of Derby man who was found dead in Thailand will campaign for more answers

A FAMILY who think their son could have been murdered on holiday in Thailand want to launch a campaign to find answers over his death.

An inquest into Nick Pearson’s death concluded today when acting senior coroner Louise Pinder said he drowned and recorded an open conclusion.

The 25-year-old, of Prescot Close, Mickleover, was in Thailand visiting his brother, Matt, who was working as a teacher, with his mum, Tracy, and dad Graham for the New Year.

After a night out with his family on New Year’s Eve, Graham last saw Nick in his hotel room in the Thai resort of Koh Tao. Nick’s body was found the next day in the sea near the resort. No witness has been found to say how he got there.

During the hearing today Tracy said: “We think Nick was assaulted and potentially murdered. That’s our gut feeling.”

She told the hearing the family fear he was involved in an argument with some people in a restaurant bar before leaving.

“They could have followed him back and taken revenge.”

After the inquest, Graham, who works at construction firm Balfour Beatty, said: “We would like to launch a campaign and do whatever we can to find out what happened to Nick. It would not bring him back, but it might be safer for other people going over there.

“We don’t feel like we have come further today, but that is no fault of anybody in this country.

“It has brought some comfort but there is still a lot more we want to know. The Thai authorities are keeping quiet and will not cooperate with the British police, which is very frustrating for us.”

Tracy thanked the British authorities, but still didn’t think the truth had come out.

She said: “I think it was a cover up. We will do whatever it takes to find the truth.”

She said she thinks the Thai police investigation was a failure.

Matt had flown over to the UK from Thailand for the inquest, but he will be returning to Derby next year to focus more on his music with his band, The Ladz.

He said: “We don’t feel any further forward now. But it’s not the fault of Derbyshire police because they have given us 125%.”

Kathryn Sharratt, a support investigative officer with Derbyshire police, told the hearing the force had had little contact from the Thai police apart from a report filed about the day he died.

Home Office pathologist Dr Michael Biggs said Nick had 237 mg of alcohol in his body. The UK legal limit for driving is 80 mgs.

He said: “There were some bruises on his face. He could have fell, bumped, or been assaulted. From a pathologist’s point of view, his injuries are not from an assault but I can’t rule it out.”

He said a lot of the injuries had occurred after his death.

Ms Pinder said: “Nick had been experiencing pain in his knee and he had consumed alcohol but he was fit and well when he was last seen at 2am.”

She said the investigation had been “limited by geography” and, despite an official request through the Foreign Office, no response was given.

She said it was unclear where Nick died or when, but she said it would be between 2am to 2pm.

She offered her condolences to the family.

On New Year’s Day, when the family had found no sign of Nick, they began to fear the worst.

After a frantic search of the area, they contacted the police.

Officers later gave them the news that Nick’s body had been discovered in the sea.

Blue has made some good points on this thread (and some bad ones too). His insistence the arrested Burmese are guilty has led to some interesting comments and kept the conversation going, and it's quite possible he is right.

My experiences with the Thai Police have not been nearly as bad as popular opinion among we foreigners would expect them to be.

BBC News - Thailand tourist double murder trial under way

"both men have been charged with conspiracy to commit murder, rape, criminal cover-up, illegally entering Thailand and staying in the country without permission."

So have they been charged with the "actual" murder then? Or are the cops going to hang these two and hope no one realises?

No surprise there. Anything to taint and cast them in a light that would appeal to the Thai obsession with appearances.

Show trials are actually quite dull affairs with a script as hackneyed as the direction.

    Case posponed ?

Good - the 2 immigrants are still banged up and it will give them time to reflect and tell the truth.

The judge in the trial of two Burmese men charged with the murder of two British tourists in Thailand has postponed witness testimony until July.

Zaw Lin and Win Zaw Htun, both 21, are accused of killing Hannah Witheridge, 23, from Norfolk, and David Miller, 24, from Jersey, on the island of Koh Tao.

The judge's decision was made during initial proceedings of the trial, in the neighbouring island of Koh Samui.

Thai prosecutors say they have a strong case. Both men deny the killings.

They could be executed if they are found guilty.

    Brought forward
The bodies of Miss Witheridge and Mr Miller were found on a beach in the popular tourist destination on 15 September. Mr Miller died from drowning and a blow to the head, while Miss Witheridge died from head wounds.

According to previous court documents, both men, who are migrant workers, have been charged with conspiracy to commit murder, rape, criminal cover-up, illegally entering Thailand and staying in the country without permission.

The trial was due to begin in February but was unexpectedly brought forward, the BBC's correspondent in Bangkok, Jonathan Head, said.

Friday's ruling was made after the defence team complained they had been given insufficient time to prepare their case.

Our correspondent said it appeared to be a concession to the defence team, which has seen little of the prosecution's case against the two defendants, and is struggling to find witnesses willing to testify for them.
The investigation has been marred by allegations of both police incompetence and of confessions extracted by torture.

In October, the two men retracted the confessions they made following their arrest three months ago.

They claimed they only confessed after being beaten and threatened by police.

Defence lawyers are trying to get parts of the trial moved to the Thai capital Bangkok, said our correspondent.

They believe other Burmese migrants, who may have seen what happened on the night of the murders, will feel safer there than on the island of Koh Samui, where the trial is taking place now, he said.
