Tis a rather nihilistic view of it all, the logic of which would lead humanity to wonder what is be the point of it all. You children will die, so whats the point in trying to give them the best start you can, you house will fall down eventually so why bother doing maintenance. We will all die and be forgotten so whats the point in doing anything?

I will try to write something again about SpaceX and Elon Musk in the space thread. He just said a few days ago in a public appearance that he wants to establish humans on Mars because earth may support life for only 500 Million years so we should expand now.

It must be such a shame when the loudest voice of the Climate Fear camp is over and over found out to be a liar, who whilst telling his porky pies is getting richer and richer. Just think, at 300k per hour, each of the lies he tells cost about 5 grand. mmmm Expensive.

I met a tree hugger in 1982 in a pub called The Saracens Head in Reading.
He was doing a degree in environmental studies at Reading Uni.
He told me that only chance the place had was to go totally nuclear and bury the waste at the south pole... ie electric everything.
He may well have been right.
    500 million years?
Yellowstone will kill us long before that.
As I said... "It doesn't matter"

Good point. All believers of climate change should sacrifice themselves and teach us non believers a lesson. We will honor you all in our memories, really we will!

climate change is a proven fact and has happened to the earth many times over the past 3000 million years or so; the fossil records prove it is a normal mechanism

We do not know if we are in a severe global warming episode or just one of the many small cycles, as these type of events would take many years to assess within the context of the overall climate

What is not known is whether our activities are contributing to the change; and if we change our habits whether any difference would be made

I support the people who think we should change our habits but not for the reasons they give. I hope that the destruction of our habitat will slow down if we adopt some of the proposed measures making the earth a better place to live

    fat chance though
    I have reported your post

^^I do my bit, but not because I've been brainwashed or need to follow a crowd. I do it because it makes sense.

Does that put me on a pedestal among those that preach but do nothing?

I think it would be really interesting to see the percentage of people that have actually committed to doing something, against the people that preach and believe that is all they need to do.

In other words done SFA but blow off hot air. Do these preachers also realize they are breathing too much with their preaching. They should be taxed for preaching!

The polar warming deniers are all about continuance of the capitalistic model, in which growth, and energy consumption to achieve that growth are paramount.
Most are just parroting what the corporate owned media tells them. First it wasn't happening, then it wasn't man made, now... it's all lies.

I have no doubt Al Gore will be remembered as a great American- he already is .

Or just do it. Stop using AC, if you can't live in the climate without it... maybe you need to move north. Stop driving obscenely large vehicles would really help a lot a problems, too. Recycle everything, everyday.

Seems so simple , if everyone did this, a lot less would have been released.
Honestly I think it's too late. If we went to zero , tomorrow, the ball is already rolling, once the methane starts out of the ice caps, it's a runaway train.

Exactly, suddenly a high court judge giving what is effectively a movie review is the best placed person on the planet to settle the science? Like judges are infallible.

Talk about appeal to authority. Well kinda, what the proponents tend to leave out of this criticism is that the same very judge also found the film to be fundamentally correct and supported by the weight of scientific evidence.

I think Hypatia's hysteria is quite illustrative of the thinking ( being charitable there ) occupying the mind of the average changer.

Good luck with getting those Chinese,Indians, Americans et al to give up their industrial development and consumption.

    Har,har.

For me, the quaint notion that if everyone in Britain starts driving a fucking Prius rather than a Mitsubishi Shogun, knits their own clothes from wholemeal bread and hugs a tree as they walk to work from Hampstead Heath to their Save an Orphan Turtle shop nicely situated in an eco friendly green shopping precinct heated by refried dog turds powered by a fucking windmill will somehow have an impact, never mind offset, the combined energy consumption of 7 billion chinks, coons, wogs, russkies and septics is just so fucking stupid as to verge on the utterly imbecilic.

The bogus renewable green power shite has cost the British taxpayer 18 billions so far and rising. And it won't matter a flying fuck.

Its a con. Pure and simple.

When I see and hear these eco green climate changing twats I just want to plunge an ice pick through one of their eyeballs.

Silly fuckers and quite neurotic too

When in the UK I drive a fucking unfriendly 2 litre turbo with full fat fuel like a bastard, I heat my house to a tropical ambient temperature whenever it suits and regularly have the door open whilst I smoke ensuring the heat escapes. Hey fuck it, I'm paying the bill. I hate the winter darkness so all the lights are on blazing away and before they brought in that moronic law banning real bulbs I bought over 6 dozen of the fuckers. You remember those daft "save the fucking planet days" when all the dickheads switch off as much power consumption as possible? Well last time I was in at the prescribed time I switched on every fucking light, put the kettle on, switched on every hob ring, both ovens and banged the central heating as high as it would go.

I like to think I'm doing my bit in fucking a changer.

Think of the energy you have just wasted tying that nonsense! Joking.

I agree with recycling etc and as I have said before I do quite a bit. More than many believers of climate change. I do it not for the climate though!

I don't want to rabbit on what I have done but I am curious to hear what changes others have made, Reusable shopping bags, perhaps!

from an environmental viewpoint, keeping the planet cleaner and less polluted, that all makes sense

but there is no proof that will alter climate change, none at all
