So what do you really know about Rumsfield if you're careless enough to make this statement ?

I got this email response back from John Kerry this morning in response to an email I sent to his website yesterday. I think you got on John Kerry's dick a little too soon surasak:

"Thank you very much for your comments. My statement yesterday – and the White House knows this full well -- was a botched joke about the President and the President’s people, not about the troops.

This is the finest military that we’ve ever had. I have fought a lifetime on behalf of veterans. We have the finest young men and women serving us in the United States military that we’ve ever had, and I’m proud of that. As a combat veteran, I know the dedication, integrity, and commitment of American troops. I’ve lived it. Had George Bush and Dick Cheney lived it one minute of their comfortable lives in combat they would never have sent American troops to war without body armor or without a plan to win the peace and they wouldn’t be exploiting our troops today.

The White House’s attempt to distort my true statement is a remarkable testament to their failure in making America safe. It is a stunning statement about their willingness to reduce anything in America to raw politics. It is textbook Republican campaign tactic. Try to change the topic; try to make someone else the issue; not the policy, not their responsibility."

    info@jon kerry.com

    Probably canned response.

It was a classic W mistake except this time it was Kerry. Funny to see the Dems cancelling their appearances with Kerry. He should retire and go back to Taxachusetts.

How much difference it makes by leaving one or two words out of what you're saying.

Bottom line .... He will not be elected the President in 2008 and his flubbed statement just sealed the deal.

So far it seems like every redneck governor has turned out to be one of the many worst Presidents in history.

Oh come on man ... even I can agree that Clinton did pretty good and you already know that I believe Reagan did alright.

Off the top of my head I can only think of Carter being a disaster.

Kerry's comments should not mean anything. But during elections everyone elevates the military to high pedestals.

Everyone tries to cloak themselves around the military, regardless of their background. It's been going on for decades.

It's exploitation of the mlitary, really. But it caters to the masses.

    Good one, SK.

I shouldn't use "absolutes" such as everyboy, nobody etc.

Many, many politicians all over the country of all backgrounds and viewpoints put the military on themselves as a hood ornamant. It does cater to the masses.

John Kerry doesn't represent the other (D)s running and he doesn't represent the Democratic party. But many in the masses do think he represents them.

It just goes to show that instead of real issues, people are caught up in Foley, homosexuality, and gay marriage, and what somebody said at a school.

The real issues that need to be addressed, won't be.

Since you told us what will be discussed ... what are the real issues that won't be discussed ?

Maybe another thread ? Or can you answer that in the elections thread ?

what is the US still doing in iraq?

at this point in time, what are the current administration's objectives in iraq? aren't they just cleaning up the mess they shouldn't have started in the first place?

i'd like to see any of the pro-war crowd post that knowing what they know now they'd support the invasion of iraq.

3000 dead american soldiers...and thousands upon thousands injured and maimed
tens of thousands of dead iraqis
    hundreds of billions of dollars
barrels of oil at double the price
    civil war (c'mon, admit it)
electricity and oil production still below pre-war levels
the military and intelligence agencies are completely distracted from nuclear issues in iran and n. korea

the list goes on and on and on and on.

so, would you support it again?

i would have asked 'would you do it again', but you guys haven't really done anything......except post on an internet forum.

    semper fi.

It's the US's moral responsibility to see the thing they've started through to the end, whatever that may be.

The majority of Americans have voted Bush back into power, even after his lies and hypocricy were exposed - now let them send their brothers and sons to Iraq, and take taxes off their income to finance Iraq getting back to anything resembling normality.

We pulled out of Vietnam, we can do it in Iraq.

We simply can't keep wasting hundreds of billions of dollars on a terminal patient.

How do you explain to the families of the dead soldiers that they died in a useless war for no honorable reason?

The government (sans Cheney and Bush) would disagree with that.

    How many Americans (not soliders) died in Islamic terror attacks in 1900? 1901? 1902? 1903? 1904? 1905? 1906? 1907? 1908? 1909? 1910? 1911? 1912? 1913? 1914? 1915? 1916? 1917? 1918? 1919? 1920? 1921? 1922? 1923? 1924? 1925? 1926? 1927? 1928? 1929? 1930? 1931? 1932? 1933? 1934? 1935? 1936? 1937? 1938? 1939? 1940? 1941? 1942? 1943? 1944? 1945? 1946? 1947? 1948? 1949? 1950? 1951? 1952? 1953? 1954? 1955? 1956? 1957? 1958? 1959? 1960? 1961? 1962? 1963? 1964? 1965? 1966? 1967? 1968? 1969? 1970? 1971? 1972? 1973? 1974? 1975? 1976? 1977? 1978? 1979? 1980? 1981? 1982? 1983? 1984? 1985? 1986? 1987? 1988? 1989?1990? 1991? 1992? 1993? 1994? 1995? 1996? 1997? 1998? 1999? 2000? 2001? 2002? 2003? 2004? 2005? 2006?

Over an average of a century less than 30 per year. Last year 12,000 people died in attacks in America from other Americans attacking other Americans. From 1990-2006 over 200,000 Americans have died from being attacked and killed by other Americans.

Clearly, we have invaded wrong country. The real terrorists are Americans.
