A Hannity/Palin ticket would be an awesome thing to behold.

The amount of wharrrrgarbble and tub thumping idiocy those two would bring out would be something special.

Still, one has to feel sorry for the normal, moderate conservative American voter - they will have nowhere to go. Perhaps they should have spoken up when Reagan sold out to the religious right or W to the neocons..

What is a socially liberal but financially conservative voter supposed to do in the USA right now? They have no party and little effective representation. Do they suck it up and vote Republican despite their objections or do they just not bother or vote Libertarian?

The 2008 election showed a majority of Americans voting for a centre-right corporatist, if the GOP seriously think that running a muppet like Hannity is the way forward then they are screwed, and deservedly so. He is a talking head and an entertainer, he's not a politician.

The Dems could probably run Maddow against him and still win, at least she has the intellectual chops to back up her points, Hannity is a total bubble head.

I have been doing some reading on the 'Libertarians' and really can't see how many Republicans would vote for them unless as a no-choice option. From what I understand, which admittedly is not much, they are quite lax on crime and drugs . . . are they not? How does a Libertarian stand on abortion . . . and issues like that.

It's a crying shame that the US really has only a two-party system

I've been voting Liberian since 1996, after the GOP nominated Bob Dole to run in '96, and he wanted "cut taxes" but not touch Medicare or Social Security, and run annual deficits and run up the national debt again.

That is putting one's head in the sand. I stopped voting GOP after that. (But I voted for Clinton in 1992).

I am not a philosphical Libertarian completely, but I like the Libertarian stance on drugs, and many other issues.

It's a crying shame that the US really has only a two-party system
It's actually one-party rule, of you look at where the money come from and the legislation. Both parties are more similar than different, except for the fringes.

    Foot in mouth disease?

U.S. Rep. Lynn Jenkins offered encouragement to conservatives at a town hall forum that the Republican Party would embrace a "great white hope" capable of thwarting the political agenda endorsed by Democrats who control Congress and President Barack Obama.

    snip

In response to inquiries by The Topeka Capital-Journal, a Jenkins spokeswoman said Wednesday the congresswoman wanted to apologize for her word choice and to emphasize she had no intention of expressing herself in an offensive manner.

    snip

"Republicans are struggling right now to find the great white hope," Jenkins said to the crowd. "I suggest to any of you who are concerned about that, who are Republican, there are some great young Republican minds in Washington."

VA's GOP candidate for Governor tries to distance himself from himself

At age 34, two years before his first election and two decades before he would run for governor of Virginia, Robert F. McDonnell submitted a master's thesis to the evangelical school he was attending in Virginia Beach in which he described working women and feminists as "detrimental" to the family. He said government policy should favor married couples over "cohabitators, homosexuals or fornicators." He described as "illogical" a 1972 Supreme Court decision legalizing the use of contraception by unmarried couples.

The 93-page document, which is publicly available at the Regent University library, culminates with a 15-point action plan that McDonnell said the Republican Party should follow to protect American families -- a vision that he started to put into action soon after he was elected to the Virginia House of Delegates.

    Damn those fornicators

Piece of work, this guy (Joe Wilson, Repub from S. Carolina)

A loud voice from the Republican side of the hall answered, "Lie" -- my colleague Glenn Thrush reports it was Rep. Joe Wilson (R - S.C.) -- drawing a second "It's not true," from Obama and a shake of Nancy Pelosi's head.

The bill is designed to exclude those immigrants, though some Republicans have called for more explicit bans on funding for illegal immigrants and have claimed the bill will funnel money to illegal immigrants.

FactCheck.org described those claims as "false" and noted that one version of the legislation already includes an explicit bar on federal funding for illegal immigrants' health care.

And what McCain thought about Wilson’s remark/outburst.

    Wilson apologized,……………

“This evening I let my emotions get the best of me when listening to the President’s remarks regarding the coverage of illegal immigrants in the health care bill. While I disagree with the President’s statement, my comments were inappropriate and regrettable. I extend sincere apologies to the President for this lack of civility.”

^ Is it me, or is this massive anger that permeates the GOP and many followers. I do not like nor watch FOX or political radio, but there is lots of shouting and anger and people that are disturbed.

Having a conversation with these people is very difficult.

Transference. The GOP let it's constituents down, terribly. And paid the price.
So who will the populist rump blame? Obama. And he's black, with a funny name.

If they were more sensible, their prime Rage should be directed to their beloved GOP, and the current mess they are in. But thats mob mentality for you.

The Democratic National Committee announced yesterday that it had raised $1million on line in the hours after Obama's speech and that 380,000 people signed a letter calling for healthcare reform.

Wilson's likely Democratic opponent in 2010, Rob Miller, who ran a surprisingly tough race against the incumbent in 2008, raised a stunning $500,000 from 14,000 people by last night, House Democrats said.

Some Democrats are considering using House rules to try to punish Wilson for his conduct, but House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said, "It's time for us to talk about health care, not Mr. Wilson."

    Assclown, Joe Wilson

    ^ Ya bladdy penny counter.

WASHINGTON — Rep. Joe Wilson and his Democratic challenger said Friday that they'd raised nearly $1.8 million combined in the 40 hours after the South Carolina Republican yelled "you lie" during President Barack Obama's address to Congress .
That total — more than $1 million for Democrat Rob Miller , $750,000 for Wilson — is almost as much as the two men received over the entire 24-month campaign cycle for their 2008 race, in which Wilson defeated Miller by 54-46 percent.

Who cares. He apologised to the Pres, who accepted it. That's enough. The House is just trying to shift focus from their myriad libbie problems.

more bad news for the GOP,.................65% blame Bush

    and

    then this,...................

Overall, which party -- the Democrats or the Republicans -- do you trust to do a better job in coping with the main problems the nation faces over the next few years?
The result: Democrats 48%, Republicans 28%. And that's a 2-point drop for the GOP on that question since February.

    Keep it up, Teabaggers.
