The Democrats need to give more donations to those conservatives loonies, they are the best advertising that money can buy![]()

Why is the GOP in meltdown? two words, SOCIAL ISSUES. The GOP needs to die. Really... either they are FOR limited government or AGAINST it. If they're gonna push their morals on the whole country than they are just as controlling and nearly as Orwellian as the Dems. Let the GOP die and let a real small government party take its place. The political spectrum is too narrow in America. Like, HSA's vs. the Government Option.... WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE!! both require more undesirable government intervention in the lives of free American citizens. Both make health care less manageable... but they sell the programs like one is good and the other is bad. They are almost the same thing... they both force Americans to drink from the government tit like helpless babies. The GOP is in meltdown becuase the difference between Mccain and Obama wasn't Right Wing vs. Left Wing, it was Chocolate vs Vanilla, Old vs. Young, Crotchety vs. Eloquent, controlled by big business vs. ostensibly not controlled by big business. Policies were pretty congruent or synonymous. I say, reject the premise presented and think outside the box. If they are from the government, they aren't here to help. RIP GOP

What shall we dismantle?--the military, the Judiciary, Congress? Government, like anything else with power, needs to be watched closely. That's what oversight and balance-of-power is all about.Originally Posted by theudonshawn
Yes sir, I am in relative agreement. We can't dismantle it, but the more integrated into our every day lives it gets the more difficult it is to balance and supervise the powers. We need to determine what the government REALLY needs to have their clumsy hands all over and what can be taken care of more subtly. I mean really... imagine going to the hospital is like going to the DMV...Originally Posted by MrG
A useful tool for determining such things would be a useful scrap of paper commonly referred to as the Constitution.
small government is a thing of the past, a pipe dream
bigger government is the only option as businesses are becoming gigantic and unregulated, it's a logical thing
the next logical thing is for Socialism to prevail, wild and unstable capitalism as we knew it would be replaced by stable socialism
I believe you misspelled 'static'. Think about that the next time you need break through innovation to save your life.![]()

I think the libbies are in meltdown right now. And let's take a look at how clever the libbie students at UC Berkeley are. Click on Crowder Undercover [at] UC Berkeley.

is this how you inform yourself about US politics? if so, it certainly begins to explain a few things.

How nice your butt bud quoted you so I could see your post. Yep, ray, I have seen the light and am now doing the libbie socialist thing and looking at blog sites. hehe But that one is Republican. But hey, the far lefties teach you how to make bombs and destroy property and be michael moore clones at G-20 summits on their sites.Originally Posted by raycarey
Why are the American libbies still so angry?
Obama won the election, the world is now perfect.
We have peace in the Middle East, The Taliban have put down their weapons and have joined the rest of the world in a huge peace hug, Iran has joined with their Jewish and Christian brothers in accepting we can live live together, the economy is soaring, unemployment is nearly erased, global warming is a thing of the paste, and America is universally loved by all.
Why the need to attack enemies?
Time for celebrations!

Dems will not be reelected due to hatred of Bush. The dems immediate future will be decided on their performance. The GOP will recover and regroup, just like the dems did after McGovern's and Carter's thrashings in elections. What arguement will the dems make in 2010 and 2012 that they should remain in power? What success will they point to? Still early for sure, but Americans are not known for being overly patient.

No argument, just a question. If the dems and Obama will be re-elected, I don't think, "well at least we weren't as bad as Bush" is a winning campaign slogan. Obama still has time to have some successes, but where are they going to come from? Health care reform will not be a success becasue it passes congress, it will only be a success if it results in better health care for Americans, which is unlikely, at least in the short term while all the kinks of a new system are worked out.

That is looking less and less likely at the moment, the GOP seems to be flailing around frantically opposing everything while Beck and such hog the limelight.Originally Posted by awesome adjunct
There are a few voices speaking out now against the likes of Beck, Little Green Footballs for one but most of the noise coming from the right is still an incoherent frothing against "gubmint" or "socialism" or something, hardly signs of a party regrouping, let alone recovering.
Moderate, fiscally conservative but socially liberal conservatives still seem to have no party representing them and few signs that the GOP is about going to ditch the fundie nutbags and move from God, guns and gays to actually important issues.
Still, I remember Little Green Goofballs calling out Dems and Muslims for not loudly distancing themselves from the loonies in ther ranks and they deserve credit for not being hypocrites like the other 99% of the current crop and taking a stand on Beck's idiocy.

And important part of the GOP. Ford, and the likes.
Independents form a large chunk of the voting block and will vote on both sides of the aisle.
GOP needs to moderate. The current form is un-doable, IMO.
And I don't see moderate getting more active or influential in that party.
............

Which should be healthy (and necessary) in any democracy, but the GOP seems to be giving a microphone to any clown like Oily Taint (or whatever she is called - the birther loonie woman), or Beck etc.Originally Posted by Milkman
